Sharper species identification. EcoPlot now tells you what it actually saw before it names anything — leaf shape, bark, trunk, habit — and says so when the deciding detail isn't in your photo. A backlit shot of leaves against the sky can't separate an elm from a hornbeam, so instead of guessing confidently, it now asks for the one more angle that would settle it, and re-reads both shots together on the same find. Remarkable finds are marked. Some trees are more than their species: an old American elm still standing after a century of Dutch elm disease, a veteran tree whose hollows and deadwood no young planting can replace. EcoPlot now recognizes these and tells you their story — including who to report them to. Also: higher-resolution capture so fine detail survives, and a check that what you found actually occurs where you are.
