Eidetic: Passwords & Notes

Eidetic 1.2 does two things better: it understands how people actually search, and it no longer makes you leave the app to save something. • SEARCH THE WAY YOU TALK. "That restaurant in Rome with the terrace" now finds the trattoria you saved, even though you wrote "trattoria". Question words are ignored, singular and plural are the same word, and a short list of near-equivalents widens the search without pushing down the word you actually wrote. • SHARE → EIDETIC. From Photos, from Safari, from any app: send a screenshot, some text or a link to Eidetic and save it without copy and paste. The app opens and shows you what is about to go into the archive — nothing is called saved before it is. • SEND A LIST WORTH LOOKING AT. Places for the weekend, gift ideas, recipes to try: pick what to send and it goes as a page — an image, or a PDF when it runs to several pages. Readable with or without Eidetic. • THE AI ANSWER SHOWS ITS SOURCES. Underneath the answer are the memories it came from, with the exact text you saved and a button to copy it — because a password that is nearly right is worse than no answer. If nothing you saved is relevant, it says so instead of answering from whatever was nearest. • NOTHING LEAVES THE PHONE, NOT EVEN IN BACKUPS. The archive is encrypted, but the key travelled in the iCloud backup alongside it. Eidetic now keeps both out. To move it to another iPhone, use the password-protected export in Settings. • NOTHING REACHES THE LOGS. The device console used to receive the search query, the text of the matched memories, and the answer as it was written. Now it receives nothing. • THE ARCHIVE DOES NOT OPEN BY ITSELF. Face ID being unavailable is no longer a reason to let anyone in: the iPhone passcode remains the fallback, and where there is no protection at all the app explains how to turn it on instead of opening. • THE SCREEN NO LONGER SITS IN THE APP SWITCHER. And a copied password stays on this device and expires by itself. • THE EXAMPLE SAYS IT IS AN EXAMPLE. And goes away in one tap. The passwords and notes you already had stay where they were.
