Ejerskifte allows buyers and sellers to digitally transfer vehicle ownership using NemID/MitID. The seller initiates the process by generating a code, which the buyer then uses to complete the transfer after selecting insurance and paying a fee.
What are the requirements to use Ejerskifte?
To use Ejerskifte, you must be at least 18 years old, possess a Danish CPR number, and have a valid vehicle inspection (syn). Both buyer and seller need the app installed and logged in with NemID/MitID.
Is there a fee to use Ejerskifte?
Yes, there is a fee of 340 DKK to complete the vehicle ownership transfer through Ejerskifte. This fee covers the registration process in the Motor Registry.
Can I add secondary users or owners with Ejerskifte?
No, Ejerskifte only allows for the primary owner to be registered. Adding secondary users or owners, or changing these details, must be done directly with the Motor Registry for an additional fee.
What happens if there is debt on the vehicle?
If a vehicle has outstanding debt, the new owner will inherit it. You can check for vehicle debt on tinglysning.dk before proceeding with the transfer.
How long does the buyer have to complete the transfer after receiving the code?
Once the seller generates the code, the buyer has one hour to complete the ownership transfer process within the app.
