Elastic OSC is a unique synth with intriguing sonic possibilities. I was intrigued enough to purchase the desktop app for MacOS as well as the IOS version for my iPad and iPhone, after playing with a dozen or so presets. The developers tout the instrument’s simplicity, but that is part of the genius of the software: you can poke around, jiggle the X/Y pads; change synth-engine types (there are 24 of them under the hood) slide the Morph or harmonics slider; draw animated mixes between LFOs (four of them), and too many other parameters to list. An onboard recorder will record and automate your moves. You can overdub automation and scrub your last pass if you need a do-over. Simple to use, but deeply complex under the hood. This is a wonderfully rewarding synth. There’s one big flaw, though: there is no user manual!
As easy as it is to get satisfying results, without a manual you are basically flying blind – maybe in this case, let’s say flying nearsighted. The only link to documentation is a link to Mutable Instruments’ Plaits synthesizer – which offers similar features, albeit with patch cords and hardware; the two synths are not identical. The onboard Help button carries a decent amount of detail, but little about application. For instance, clicking on Help for an oscillator type will list parameters, but little about accessing them for modulation. You can use a powerful 6-op FM synthesizer, but there doesn’t appear to be any way to choose and edit the algorithms. Most importantly, the online help could never replace the organized information of a well written manual.
I truly love what this synthesizer can do; I highly recommend it. As I mentioned, you can achieve great results by simply poking around the visible parameters. There are hundreds of great presets to get you started, and it’s easy to tweak or even radically change a patch enough to save and call it your own. But if you want to dig in deeper (I do!), without a manual, you had best be a kinesthetic learner.

Can’t get any presets working on iPhone 6
They all just sound the same as the last oscillator i have loaded, despite being labelled as the preset in the top bar.

Hm, that's weird, so you can not change a preset (sound)? iPhone 6 is already pretty old, maybe that's an issue, though it works good on my iPhone 6s

Nach anfänglicher Skepsis bin ich nach einem zweiten Anlauf doch sehr zufrieden mit dem Teil bringt neuen Schwung in mein Setup. Durch die MPE Matrix ist das für mein ROLI Seaboard der beste Synthesizer geworden, daran können sich viele orientieren die meinen MPE Ready zu sein. Kein anderer Synthesizer bietet das. Absolut Outstanding ! 6 Sterne 🤩

Extraordinary
Unbelievably good! OSC is my favourite synth of all time (I’m including hardware and I’ve got and used a lot) my mate rocked up with £4500 worth of eurorack with real mutable instruments modules and left with his tail between his legs. This was before they added 4 lfo’s ,one note can become a tune in of itself. Achingly beautiful to downright monstrous digital bliss it really is a thing of joy. Nuff said

Really Incredible
This synth has some many sounds and things to do to the sounds, you could really get by with this being the only synth you have if you needed to. So many options, high quality and it especially lends itself to live performance.
Interesting and fun
One of those synths that it’s easy and immediate to get interesting results. I’m lazy and I leaning more and more to synths like this that make getting results easy and fun

Toll klingender Synth
War lange auf der Suche nach einem Synth der ein bisschen Modular klingt und gute Effekte hat. Die beiden XY Pads und die vielen Oszillatoren machen einfach Spaß. User Interface schön simpel und optimiert für Touch. Bin begeistert.

Great Synth Poor Delivery No Support
I am not one to drop reviews like this. Read article about this synthesizer. So I purchased. In reviews there was a DX7 import. I have versions 1.1.1.82
Hit preset bar pops open window. Immediately, there is no DX7 import button as seen in videos from the company.
My next step was try the support option in Apples store. Surely I could send an email? No sent me to a product page with Developer blab about the future. Nowhere to engage.
I would happy to remove this review; however, I don’t know how to reach out to them. I was forced to go through Apple to report a problem.

I noticed in videos there was DX7 import button. That is missing on the app. I seem to,have a 1.1 version of some kind. But if you released up date to the store, I might suggest verifying it works or has been tested.

Hi, to import a DX7 bank you have to go to one of the 3 OP6 engines (19-21), as described in the Welcome text and the Update Video. You can reach us via: eosc@mominstruments.com .
