During onboarding we explain that the free 3-day trial converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends, and that support helps us keep updating the app. We’re also doing our best to keep it affordable for students. Please note that we will further investigate this with our developers. Thank you again for raising the concern.

No notifications no go

Hi bkcalb — sorry for the frustration. Notifications are optional, and you shouldn’t need them to use the app. On that screen, you can tap “Allow Notifications” and then decline in the system prompt to continue without them. We’re also working on making that clearer. Thanks for letting us know.
