About
Element Lab is a periodic table you can actually explore.
Tap any element to see it come apart: a 3D atom you can spin with your finger, built from that element's real electron configuration. Tantalum genuinely shows 2, 8, 18, 32, 11, 2 electrons across its shells — anomalous configurations included, not a generic cartoon atom.
SEE THE TABLE ANY WAY YOU LIKE
Recolour all 118 elements by electronegativity, atomic radius, melting point, density, atomic weight, or the year they were discovered. Patterns that take a chapter to explain become obvious in a glance: electronegativity climbing toward fluorine, atomic radius swelling down every group. Elements with no data for a property stay grey rather than guessing.
EVERY ELEMENT IN DEPTH
Atomic weight, electron configuration, oxidation states, melting and boiling points, density, atomic radius, phase at room temperature, who discovered it and when, and where its name comes from. Notable compounds, isotopes with natural abundances and half-lives, and a safety profile for the ones that deserve one.
REACTION SANDBOX
Put elements on the bench and see what they can do together. Hydrogen and oxygen give you water and the reaction that launched the Space Shuttle. Sodium and chlorine give you table salt. Iron, aluminium and oxygen give you thermite. Each reaction comes with a balanced equation, its type, its energy change, and why it matters.
COMPARE SIDE BY SIDE
Pin up to four elements and line them up across fourteen properties, with a plain-language read on what actually separates them — including whether the electronegativity gap between two of them points to ionic or covalent bonding.
BUILT PROPERLY
- Works fully offline. No account, no network, no ads, no tracking, no in-app purchases.
- Native iPhone and iPad layouts, in light and dark mode.
- Search by name, symbol, atomic number, or category.
- Pinch to zoom the table; filter it by any category.
A note on the data: the core properties cover all 118 elements. Compounds, isotopes, and safety notes are a curated selection — where an element has no entry, the app says so plainly instead of inventing one. Element Lab is a learning and reference tool, not a laboratory safety data sheet.
