About

elmdocs is an AI workspace for Australian law firms. It holds a firm's client work in one place — matters and their documents, drafting and review, contract negotiation, client intake and research over Australian law — with an assistant that works on the file in front of it rather than in a separate tab. This app carries that workspace to your iPhone and iPad. CLIENTS AND MATTERS Every document, chat and draft is filed under a matter, and every matter under the client you act for. Open a matter to see its folders and documents, upload from Files, and read, compare and share versions. Access follows the matter, so what a colleague can open is a decision you make once, and you can see who has been granted access from the app. AN ASSISTANT ON THE FILE Start a chat inside a matter and ask about the documents in it. Have a document read, summarised or revised, and use Edit with AI to work on a draft with the assistant. Every chat is kept with the matter it belongs to, and your own AI runs and audit trail are always available under Account. REVIEWS AND CHRONOLOGIES Run a tabular review across a set of documents, choosing the columns you want extracted, and build a chronology of events from the file. Workflows run a sequence of steps over a matter and record each run. CONTRACT NEGOTIATION Negotiation rooms give both sides one place to exchange versions, raise issues and see what changed between turns, instead of a thread of attachments with the redline somewhere in the middle. Add parties, share a guest link, and send a document for signature when it is agreed. CLIENT INTAKE Create a form, send it to a client, and have the answers and supporting documents land against the matter rather than in an inbox. Forms and their submissions are managed from the matter they belong to. GROUNDED AUSTRALIAN RESEARCH Ask a research question and get an answer anchored to Australian legislation and case law drawn from the official registers, with the source of each passage shown so it can be checked before it is relied on. Keep up with legislation updates from the Home screen. WHERE YOU ALREADY WORK The same workspace is in the web app and inside Microsoft Office. The Word add-in opens elmdocs documents in Word, applies the assistant's suggested edits as native tracked changes and saves the result as a new version; it runs in Excel and PowerPoint too. The Outlook add-in sends the email you have open, and the attachments you choose, to a matter, where the assistant can analyse it or draft the reply. This app carries the same clients, matters and documents with you. PRECEDENTS Your firm's precedents and your personal ones are a tap away on Home, alongside what you opened most recently. SIGNING IN elmdocs is for firms with an account. Sign in with your work email and a six-digit code is emailed to you; there is no password to keep. Firms on single sign-on use their own identity provider instead. If your firm is new to elmdocs, entering your email raises an access request that an admin reviews before your account is opened. To arrange a demonstration or ask how your firm's data is handled, email admin@elmdocs.com.

Search is much better at finding things. Results now appear as you type, rather than only once you finish a word. Searching for a document by the name shown on screen works, including names with full stops, hyphens and dates. A misspelt search still finds the document, and when nothing matches exactly the app can now find documents by what they are about rather than the words you used. Scanned PDFs are read in the background, so the text inside them becomes searchable too — not just their filenames.
