What's New in Emery

v1.26.0

September 1, 2026

Fires, Growth and Extras now show on tasks in the overdue section, in projects and in notes, not only in your day. Each task carries its priority wherever you find it, so it's clear what matters before you decide what to do with it. We also went through every language other than English and rewrote the translations that didn't sound natural. Emery should now read as if it was written in your language, not translated into it. If a phrase still feels off, tell us and we'll fix it.

User reviews

Disappointed and Confused

They said it’s free forever and we can use it for free, but i can’t even use it without singing in and buying the subscription, not sure where i can use it for free, also not sure why this app requires subscription? Easily can be a one time purchase.

Response from developer

Hi, thanks for the honest review, and sorry for the confusion. We've never advertised Emery as free. For a while we did give new accounts a free plan, and we kept that promise: anyone who signed up then still has it. That may be what you saw. Accounts created since are on paid plans. On one-time purchase, I hear you. In the App Store, Emery is subscription based, and that subscription is what funds development for our small team. It comes with a 7-day free trial, and signing in is what keeps your planner in sync across your devices. If you'd like to talk through your options, or anything looks off with your account, email me at dennis@emeryplanner.com and I'll help. Dennis, founder of Emery

Hide the Ball

I know there is a subscription but there is no pricing information. Had to go through a tedious quiz before being able to see the website. Then, after installing the app and answering questions I still don’t have any pricing information by the time they want my email address and other information. I opted out of this app at that point.

Response from developer

Fair point, and thanks for spelling it out. The quiz is there to shape the plan around how you work, not to hide the price. Subscription prices are listed on our App Store page under In-App Purchases, and they appear in the app before any payment step. Den, founder of Emery

Feeling letdown

I’ve had it for a few days and I feel pretty disappointed, unfortunately.

It is a bit buggy as my tasks don’t save to my calendar when I move them over. I am also stunned by the inability to link my iCal account. Also, is there not a way to undo if I accidentally click that I completed a task? The whole thing just feels incomplete and not as intuitive as what we’ve come to expect from most task apps these days.

This app has potential but I’m really regretting that I paid $20 for this. Since I paid for it, I will continue to use for a little longer to give it more of a shot and if I have a change in opinion, I’ll be sure to update.

Response from developer

Hi, Den here, founder of Emery. Thank you for the detailed writeup. This is exactly the kind of feedback that helps. On the calendar: your tasks are saving, but by default they go to Emery's internal calendar. To sync a task to your external calendar, select that calendar while dragging the task over. Fair point that this is easy to miss. iCal isn't supported yet. It's high on our priority list and will be introduced soon. On undo: many actions have it, but for task completions we decided against it, since the task stays visible and can be unticked in one tap. If there's a use case we're missing, email me directly at den@emeryplanner.com and I'll take a look. Glad you're giving it more time. I hope the next updates earn that changed opinion.

Wayyyy Too Expensive

19.99$ a month?

Response from developer

Hi, Den here, founder of Emery. Fair reaction. $19.99 is the monthly plan, the most flexible option but also the most expensive way to use Emery. If it clicks for you, the annual plan brings the cost way down, and there's a lifetime option if you never want to think about a subscription again. Either way, thanks for taking a look.

Subscription 🤮🤮

No access to calendar

Add lifetime 🔴

Response from developer

Thank you for trying our product. At the moment we don’t offer a free plan. Subscriptions help us stay independent, keep improving 2X Planner, and support users directly - without ads or selling data. As for the lifetime option - we’ll think about it.
