Empower AR

Empower AR is an inclusive learning app developed by CreativiTek in partnership with the Australian Federation of Disability Organisations (AFDO) and supported by the Australian Government Department of Social Services. The app uses immersive mobile augmented reality (AR) and interactive 360° environments to empower people with disabilities (PwD) through Social Stories and Success Stories. It is designed for individuals with intellectual and learning disabilities in Australia. Content is provided in simple language and also in three of Australia’s most spoken languages—Chinese, Arabic, and Vietnamese—to better engage people with disabilities, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. Empower AR builds capacity by educating users about government services and how to access them, while highlighting real-life success stories and role models with lived experience. Users can access immersive experiences by scanning printed resources or directly through the app’s gallery using a smartphone or tablet.
