Wonderful App

This app has been so helpful. It is great to hear the Lord’s word every day and knowing that it is scriptural based. Thank you so much Drew for all your hard work. It is greatly appreciated especially those of us who struggle with anxiety daily.

Bad changes :(

I’ve used the Encounter app for many years, and it has been a blessing I can hardly put into words. Unfortunately, this latest update has been disappointing. Yes, it fixed a playback bug, but I would gladly trade that fix to have the old app—or at least the features that made it so special—back.

The automatic message that generated when I shared the app (with the option to donate) is gone, and more importantly the Bible readings have disappeared, which is the biggest loss of all. There also seem to be fewer meditations now, and some are read by what sounds like an AI-generated voice.

I do appreciate the addition of a built-in Bible, but there are already plenty of Bible apps. Encounter’s unique Scripture readings and thoughtful meditations were what set it apart.

Thank you for all the work you do; this app has blessed me for years. I truly pray you’ll hear long-time users’ concerns and consider restoring the features that made Encounter so meaningful.

Response from developer

Thank you for taking the time to review. Allow me to address these. (1) As a non-profit that relies solely on donations, managing costs is always a factor. By moving to this new developer, we reduced our app costs by 85% allowing us to continue offering 1,400 hours of content for free. (2) Another factor was security. We moved to a more secure server, but that unfortunately required everyone to start over on journaling. (3) None of it is AI. It's me. But I may have had a cold. (3) The same number of meditations is there, + the addition of 200+ YouTube Videos and 170+ YouVersion Bible Plans. I realize it may be new, but we are seeing a 10x increase in downloads, launches, and impressions with the new developer. Please be patient as I continue to tweak the user interface. Thanks for your support, encouragement, and continued prayers. Glory to God. -Drew

Focus on things above

I appreciate this way to meditate on Scripture and focus my mind on things above.

Major Issues

Sorry team there’s major issues with App the since the recent update…

Appreciate, but please fix

I too love this app but it broke a while ago and I’ve been hoping for a fix rather than complain.

Best Meditation App Ever!

I share this app with everyone, it’s the best Christian meditation app and I’ve sampled it all. It looks like the app is currently having a glitch but folks remember this may be a family owned business (I remember it was led by a couple or family?) so please give them grace, and be patient.

Down the toilet

This went from amazing to abysmal. Why?? You went from being able to choose tailored topics you were interested in to an app that now seems to want all your data. Will be deleting. So sad to have lost this.

New Version Is Bad

Where’s the sleep timer? Where are my favorites? Where did this go wrong?

Very confused now

I agree 100% with “What Happened”. Things changed and I don’t care for it either as I also counted on it every night. I finally got signed in to “sub splash” but I don’t see that it’s any different and there definitely aren’t 500 meditations. I’m still hearing the message at the beginning saying if I want more to download the app. I even went to the App Store to see if there was a different one that I needed to download. Please explain the change and how can I get to my favorites? And why isn’t there a new one each day instead of me having to search for one that I haven’t listened to in the last few days. It’s very disappointing. 5 stars for the app previous to the change but now I’ll give it a three because I love the meditations themselves, but only one or two stars for the layout now.

Change it back?

I loved this app until now, all of my saved favorites are gone, it won’t let me log in, and I am so disappointed

Confused

I’ve had this app for years with no problems. Now all of a sudden the app is totally different. I am logged out of my account and all my favs are completely gone. The app daily meditations aren’t current and are not the same as my daily emails. Hopefully this will be fixed soon.

What happened?

I’ve used this app for a few years now and have grown dependant on it for my mornings and evenings or when I just need that extra peace when struggling and everything on my app disappeared. It also logged me out and won’t let me log in. For about a week. It’s very disappointing because I love it so much. And when I am able to access a “podcast” it now starts every time with “download our app” speech. I have the app. It is not working.

New App

I like the new look of the app, but I have deleted the app since I can no longer access daily meditations as they use to be. It seems the only way to do this is through the website.

What happened?

I’ve used this app for over a year and with no warning it’s looks completely different now. The meditations are stuck on June 4th. It signed me out and doesn’t recognize my email. I created a new account with new email and the meditations are still stuck on June 4th.

You can get updated meditations on the podcast. Yet the podcast tells you to download the app to access the 500 meditations which “are free, as they should be” according to Drew (?).

The app also has a new icon. No clue why I can’t get daily meditations in app or what June 4th is the new Groundhog Day!

Draws you in from music to sound effect!

Draws me in and is always relevant to what is going on in my life. The background music and sound effects to what he is talking about lets you, for just a moment, draw you in to Gods Presence. Best Christian meditation app out there.

New App Format is a Floop

The app format changed in the last week, and it’s not a change for the better. You can’t find the meditations that come in the daily emails like before. It shows the same meditations day after day so you have to hunt for the suggested affirmations. Please change it back!

Nice app but eats battery

Download the app today overall I liked it. But it ran in the background all day running down the battery. Background app refresh is turned off, so I don’t know how to stop it so deleted the app.

Favorite Christian App

There are very few recorded voices that I find soothing. Drew’s voice is at the top of that short list. The contents of the meditations are so gentle, yet profound. I love Encounter.

Best meditation app

This is the best meditation app to have a peaceful moment with Gods word.

Great Offering

Great offering to do this. Very good messages and topics. The music is meditative but the style of speaking isn’t and is more like an audiobook than a meditation (slow, soft) style of speaking. A blessing to offer this and using a meditative style of speaking (slow, soft) would greatly improve it.
