About

People who memorize whole books of the Bible do not have unusual memories. They showed up every day and did the review. That is the whole method. Engrave exists to make that daily showing-up as frictionless as possible. HOW IT WORKS Phase one. Read the passage aloud fifty times, three or four times a day. You are not memorizing yet. You are letting the words become familiar, which makes everything after it dramatically easier. Phase two. One verse a day, with cumulative review. Each day you recite everything you have learned so far from the reference alone, then learn one new verse. The review is the part that works. It is also the part people skip, so Engrave holds the new verse back until the review is done. Phase three. Once the last verse is learned, recite the whole passage once a day for two or three weeks. That is what turns something you can just about remember into something you still have in a year. SIX TRANSLATIONS English Standard Version, New International Version, New American Standard Bible 1995, Berean Standard Bible, King James Version and World English Bible. WORKS OFFLINE Passages are stored on your device when you add them. After that, every day's work runs with no connection at all. QUIET BY DESIGN One reminder in the morning naming the passage you are working on, and a quiet one in the evening if the day has slipped away. Nothing else. No streak warnings dressed up as encouragement, no badges, and no leaderboards. FRIENDS AND GROUPS Share your progress with a few friends, or work through a passage together as a group. They see which phase you are in, how far along you are, and your streak. They never see your verses or your notes. FREE Engrave is free. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription, no advertising, and your data is never sold. Bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. — Proverbs 3:3

Passages can now be given a theme. Thirty-one of them, from Abiding in Christ to Women, so that a growing list stays easy to move around in. The Community tab now shows every passage a friend is working on, not only the one they happen to be on today. Home and Passages have become a single Today screen, and the Method has a tab of its own, so the three phases are always one tap away.
