Promising Concept, But Falls Short in Execution
The Envestnet Client View mobile app has a clean interface and a strong concept, but the functionality is frustratingly poor.
• When attempting to add accounts, I consistently encounter an error when clicking the “Add Accounts” button. This essentially renders the core functionality of the app useless.
• Adding manual assets is equally problematic. There’s no option to categorize assets as “Investment Assets.” Instead, I’m forced to use the “Other Assets” category, which doesn’t map correctly to MoneyGuidePro.
• Even when manually entering investment accounts, they do not integrate or sync properly with MoneyGuidePro, which defeats the purpose of using the app for financial planning.
• The tax status options are too limited—only “Taxable” and “Non-taxable” are available. It should offer more accurate classifications such as “Taxable,” “Tax-Free,” and “Tax-Deferred.”
Overall, both the mobile and browser versions are buggy, time-consuming, and unintuitive. Compared to other account aggregation tools on the market, this app significantly diminishes the client experience. There’s great potential here, but it needs substantial improvement to be a reliable and effective financial planning tool.
