About
ePassRead is an NFC passport reader designed for electronic passport inspection and secure integration with your own business systems.
Hold your iPhone near an electronic passport to read identity details, the chip portrait, and available data groups. ePassRead presents Passive Authentication, certificate trust, Chip Authentication, and Active Authentication results when supported, helping you assess the integrity and trust status of the chip data.
Key features:
• Read ICAO-compliant electronic passports through NFC
• View the holder name, passport number, nationality, date of birth, expiry date, issuing details, and chip portrait
• Review chip data groups, SOD hash checks, and available anti-cloning authentication results
• Store read records locally, with large images saved as files to reduce memory usage
• Capture the passport information page and perform local holder similarity comparison
• Scan a QR code to configure a business endpoint, binding ID, and AES encryption key
• Submit selected records only after a second confirmation
• Encrypt report payloads locally before sending them to your configured server
• Support multiple endpoints, runtime logs, and manual iCloud backup with Pro
• Available in English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, and Arabic
Privacy and security:
Passport records are stored on the device by default. ePassRead does not automatically upload a record after reading it. Every submission requires user confirmation, and the report payload is encrypted locally with AES-GCM. App Attest helps your server determine whether a request came from an attested app instance.
Important:
Chip reading and authentication results help assess the integrity and trust status of passport chip data. They are not an official passport authenticity decision issued by a government, border authority, or immigration system.
