Excellent

A great accompaniment to play along with your practice chanter.
The practice chanter needs to have all the notes in tune, but the app can assist in achieving this.

Bagpipe app

I've played real bagpipes for 2 years. These drones sound nothing like real drones. Sounds electric and fake. At least try to make the drones sound different. Like real pipes. Please.

Excellent

Love it πŸ˜ƒ

Don't bother

Waste of money. So lacking on features it's not funny

Great but needs a higher octave

Great app..but It would be even more great if there was a higher octave. Def.worth the money

Good App But..

Would like to see a "double tap" feature on the keys as an update.

Exactly as expected

Good app for playing with Scottish highland sounds, no crashes or bugs. New keyboard layout is exactly as expected from Scottish notation. Playing with easy mode off is also quite fun, since you can play a nice minor third interval (not available on real pipes - fun to have a different scale to play with). Overall really fun app to help work out real melodies with a good highland pipe sound. Developer was very receptive and quick to improve this app, keep these apps coming Micheal.

epipes scottish bagpipes and drones

Great app with high quality sound, easy to play - with fast, friendly support! hard to stop playing once you start! looking forward to update with keyboard in G - what a blast!!

Lone piper!

About as good a sound and as accurate as it gets with the limitations of a keyboard style operation and the iPhone itself. Doublings are out but gracenotes and birls can be simulated. Great fun - pocket pipes!

sounds ok but...

When playing the chanter by itself... you need to push twice on the drone to stop everything...

Please develop a better bagpipe app

I don't know if it's a limitation from the hardware side of things, but this app was pretty disappointing.
What I had been anticipating was an iPhone version of an electronic chanter, but what I got was a keyboard on which to play dischordant pipe tunes.
Bagpipes work on the principle that you have all but one (except for high A) hole closed, but detecting the whereabouts of 9 fingers simultaneously seems to be well beyond the capabilities of this app (or the phone?)
If someone comes up with a genuine electronic chanter app it will sell like hot cakes. Sadly this is a long way from that...

I love this

Plug your iphone or ipod into some nice big speakers and this app sounds incredible, really simple to play too.

Bagpipes

This sounds very authentic and takes up less space than a real set.

Very good bagpipe app!

I'm very impressed with Mr. Eskin's work. The app is well sampled, and plays very smoothly--and more important, it's fun.
I gave it only four stars because currently it lacks the ability to tune the pipe. It's very well in tune with itself, but if you want to play along to music in your library, an ability advertized in the app description, even highland pipe music, you need to be able to tune your e-pipe to match.
Overall, excellent app. Keep up the good work, sir!

Love the sounds - Hate the crashes

There is a known problem with this app crashing at startup. The developer says he is working on it.
Until it is fixed I would avoid upgrading to iOS4 or wait for the fix.
Crashes at startup 4/5 times for me. Once it 'sticks' it's alot of fun and sounds nice (at least if you like pipes, and you wouldn't want it if you didn't)
