Was great

This has been a trusted resource for years, including dosing and interaction checking. The decision to hide it behind a paywall was unfortunate. Will use a different resource going forward.

Are You Kidding Me!?

I have used epocrates for years, so imagine my surprise when I go to calculate a dose for a pediatric patient and get a notification I have exceeded my free views! What the actual heck are you guys thinking!?

SHOULD STAY FREE!

Many of us have gotten used to this app and use it several times a day. It is unfair to take what was marketed as a FREE app and suddenly start charging to use it. If you are going to charge, there should be different tiers so that it doesn’t cost so much money. I have UpToDate free from my job, and open evidence is free for US clinicians. Guess those will be my “go to” from now on. I guess the developers would rather lose customers all completely than offer options other than $180/year. Shame on you!!

Not free any longer

After about 2 decades of a free subscription, now I’m limited to using this for free which means a usage cap each week! Thanks for your loyalty epocrates!

No longer free

I’ve been using Epocrates in my daily practice for over 10 years without issue, just to discover I now only get so many searches within a 7 day period unless I purchase their Epocrates+ prescription. This is such a disappointment and I will probably no longer be using this app.

Used to be good, but now requires paid subscription

I’ve had an Epocrates account since 2007. This used to be the best app for basic drug reference. However, they have slowly added “Medical News” and CME and pop ups, and the app has become cluttered and difficult to navigate. And now, if you try doing more than about 5 queries in a week, it requires you to sign up for a horribly over priced subscription. Most apps like this cost $30/year, but they want that much per month?! Way to ruin a good app, Epocrates! I’m investigating other drug reference options.

Charging for Something That Used to be Free is Bad Business

Epocrates was always an absolutely indispensable product towards my ability to practice medicine confidently for 10+ years. Upon opening it up again recently, I was completely shocked to find out that the basic features of the service which I used to use religiously are now locked behind a paywall. I barely searched up even 10 drugs before it told me that I had used up all my free searches. Prior to this, I even actually considered buying the complete version as a token of my appreciation, as that’s how much I believed in the product. But now I will be moving on to a different service as there are many which are still free, especially in the era of AI. Epocrates’ new business model has essentially destroyed its own usefulness. You can’t suddenly charge people for something which they used to use for free for years. That’s a bad business model.

Promise not kept

20 years ago was promised free access to app; now limited with new restricted queries and support not interested in keeping promise

What happened!

Why the changes. Has been the best , and free now big charges
Less access. Why!!!

No longer truly free

Greed has finally found its place in the epocrates app. They have been mining my data for over 25 years now. I have clicked thousands of times to clear ads. All of that revenue is not enough anymore. Now they limit how many times I can look at drug interactions unless I pay an exorbitant monthly fee. There are other options now, and I will be telling everyone to consider those. It’s a shame that greedy people have taken over all aspects of medicine.

$$

Used to be great . Now all they want is money

What’s going on with epocrates ???

Used to be very good . Now you’re stealing data and planting cookies!!!! Are you trying to steal our banking info ? Or the phone numbers of our kids ? Now your forcing us to move up to the latest iOS releases. More data collection? I thought that your app was the best medicine app I have turned many of my fellow medical professionals onto your app . I have even used the premium version . But now I get marginally interesting quizzes, and data stealing . SAID AND PATHETIC. I hate lazy and stupid people doing jobs that are important. So the outcome is substandard. What’s next ? An anemic tie in to “AI” (chatgpt) that is not quite functional but takes multiple gigabytes or memory and processor allocation. You must have hired some mid management stooge who convinced upper management that dressing up a pig will make it look like a fashion model . There are so many things that could be done to improve the quality and effectiveness of the app .

Response from developer

Hi not@thebee - We are sorry you are having a negative experience and would very much appreciate the opportunity to learn more and assist any way we can! As devices age and mobile apps are updated, it does become necessary to eventually use an operating system or device that is capable of meeting minimum system requirements by nature, as developers cannot continue to try and make an app compatible with operating systems that are no longer supported, or obsolete technology. We would be happy to try and address any concerns you have regarding our content or data that is collected. Please contact support via the profile section within the mobile App, or online at (https://online.epocrates.com/feedback) so we can obtain further details and better assist you. Thank you!

Doesn’t Work

I have been able to open app at all with the two previous updates. It says “Please do not leave this screen. This may take moment.” However, it never loads. I’ve tried deleting the app and reinstalling. Turning on and off my phone. I have most recent os. Super disappointing. I’ve been using this app for 12+ years. It used to be awesome but now it’s awful. You’d think they’d care about customer feedback. Nearly every review for over 6 months has been negative.

Scam

If you live outside de US even if you pay with an account created and paid thru the US the App has been shut down for your use. Epocrates do not reimburse you. Be careful. I had been customer for years and now they wash their hands.

Shame

Had my account since 2015 as Paramedic to be able to find out what medications people were on when found at home and for the purposes of being prescribed. It was free and now, it isnt. Lame

Used to be great

End of an era

Was great now limited

You have met your search for the week. $$$$ wanted to continue. Time to delete. Not so great any more.

Not free anymore

Tired of these subscription for everything. Uninstalled.

WAS goo

App WAS useful clinically until you required a paid subscription. Who on your business team decided to charge a fee in the era of LLM/Ai apps? There are other better apps with more features that are free (Including the one made by your founder- Doximity). Why not keep it free and pepper in the occasional ad banner?

Stopped using

Preferred Epocrates for looking up meds on the fly, but since the attempt at forced subscription I just stopped using it. Already had access to other institutionally-paid resources.
