About

You are a stickman with a bag of balls, a princess locked in a cage behind you, and a dragon at the far end of the field that would very much like to get past you and capture her. Left thumb moves. Swipe on the right to throw. The whole thing is drawn in pencil on paper. THE DRAGON REARS UP AS IT PREPARES TO FIRE It rears up first. A shaded cone shows exactly where the fire is going to land. When it glows, the aim has locked and stopped following you. That is your window. Step out of the cone or burn. MATH THAT IS ACTUALLY PART OF THE FIGHT Questions flash up mid-battle. Some are plain arithmetic on a five second clock. The good ones are patterns: four worked examples, one hidden rule, and a written equation that is lying to you. "3 + 5" might really mean 3 x 6. Work out the rule, answer it, and for the next few seconds every throw is a volley and every spike block you set down is a stack. Get it wrong and nothing bad happens. Get it right and the field is briefly yours. QUEST MODE Free one princess and the stickman gets escorted up into a fresh field: new dragon, new colours, counter goes up by one. Keep going until something finally gets you. Records are kept separately for Normal, Hard, Extreme and Staggered, and Staggered rerolls the difficulty on every single princess (50% Normal, 35% Hard, 15% Extreme), so you never quite know what you just walked into. THREE TIERS AND THEY MEAN IT Normal has room to breathe. Hard has fewer second chances. Extreme has none at all, and I say that as the person who built it and has beaten it exactly once. ALSO IN THERE * Twelve step tutorial you actually play, with skip and rewind, and nothing in it can kill you. * Spike blocks that drop from downed creatures. Pick one up, set it down, watch the next thing that flies over it regret that. * Hints on the pattern questions if you want them, or the full rule spelled out if you would rather just be told. * A minimap and edge arrows, because the arena is three screens wide and things sneak up on you. * Plays offline, in landscape, on iPhone and iPad. No energy meters, no timers between runs, no currency to collect. Just a stick figure and some arithmetic under pressure.
