Baffling

I have no idea how to use this app to actually discover new podcasts I’m interested in. The list of “favorite topics” is vague, with no examples of the kinds of podcasts that can into each category, and seems to exclude lots of what I listen to. If I want to listen to a fictional radio drama, is that “Literature” or “performing arts”? Is a science documentary podcast “Higher education”, “technology”, or “society and culture”? What category is, say, Planet Money in, or 99% Invisible? I listen to a lot of podcasts already, and there’s no way to import them, so I’d need to start over from scratch in this app. The interface is unresponsive and confusing. If you tap on the prominent cards at the top of the first screen, there’s no way to close the modal that pops up without scrolling down and navigating into the podcast being promoted.

Navigation: no way to get back to main menu

There is no way to get back to the main menu. Finished listening to an episode and can’t go back to the main menu. I would have to close and reopen the app, and that’s not a good user experience. Can you please fix this? Thanks.

Response from developer

Hi! Thanks so much for taking the time to review Vox Pods. I’m sorry to hear some podcasts aren’t playing for you, you can reach out to us via Twitter and we will get these looked into. We’re constantly looking at ways to improve the listener experience, and the ability to rewind and fast forward in Vox Populi is certainly one way we can do that. Please look out of this in a forthcoming release. Do stick with us on our journey, though, and we will continue to add features that you want to see and suggest!

Great potential

Love the app! A lot of podcast cover art are fuzzy though which takes away from the clean interface. Keep up the awesome work though. Excited to see a new podcast player!

Stored podcasts

Is there any way that I can add my old downloaded podcasts on my external hard drive to this app? I have old coast to coast am podcasts that I would like to add. Thanks!

Response from developer

Hi! Thanks so much for the review. That’s a great suggestion, well add it to our roadmap. Keep an eye out for this feature in a future release.

Brilliant idea

This is a great idea and so close to 4 stars. It’s newer so there are some small kinks I see that need worked out. The suggestions for podcasts that are similar could have a better algorithm. It’s a great way to find new indie podcasts that may be similar to my big faves. Interested to see where this goes!
