Versatile Tool

The app has two essential features: calculators and exercise directory. The calculators are one repetition maximum, barbell racking, workload adjustment and strength standards. The exercise directory is divided into cardio and conditioning, plyometrics, stretches and weight training. This tool is awesome. The calculators are great for progressive overload and load goals. The directory is so vast you could spend hours sifting through all the muscle groups. Overall it is a fantastic app that many individuals can benefit from.

Excited to see this develop.

I’m a long time user of the website. I’m excited to see it on iOS. Some feedback: Suggestion: please use more white space in your UI. The large buttons and solid background colors are jarring. Bug: I tried logging in with Google and immediately ran into an unhelpful error message.

Response from developer

Thanks for your generous review and feedback. Thank you also for pointing out the bug you experienced. We investigated and found the cause of the bug. Version 1.1.8 is out, it contains a fix for the bug. You should be able to now login using google on your iphone.

Lots of potential but could use some adjustments

I have used the ExRx website for years, often referring friends and clients to use it. Overall the use of the app isn’t terrible, but there could be some improvements.
•When searching an exercise, if you don’t spell the exercise exactly correctly it will not show up. A “did you mean ___?” feature like how Google does it would be a good addition.
•When pressing the space bar button down to activate the text cursor, it becomes very laggy and unresponsive. This makes it nearly impossible to place the cursor where you want it this way.
•The body weight can be changed between lbs and kg’s but not working weight, it would be nice to be able to adjust that as well.
•Some of these videos are quite old and do not have the same visual quality of newer uploads. The hang clean video is a good example.
•It’s difficult to find the path to favoriting an exercise. Currently you have to go through the tags section and apply a favorites tag. I think there should be a star at the top corner of the exercise that you can tap and it will automatically favorite it, and add a favorite tag to the exercise.
•In the future I’d like to see the app tutorial integrated into the app instead of linking to a web page. Having an overall tutorial and individual tutorial based on the current section you’re on (like when you click on plyometrics, weight training, or calculator function for example) would be a nice addition.

There might be more but these were apparent within the first 10 minutes or so of me using the app.

I’d like to report more in the future and I’d like to enquire about a way to do so. After some quality of life changes and bug fixes, I’m sure this app will be a 5/5.

Crashes —concept great however…z

Concept wonderful, however it constantly crashed, screen flickering and in several of calculations (max rep/ % of ma no reps/ macros )

On ios 16.6; iphone 13 promaxx——had a friend in 3 states over also with iphone 14 promax (ios 17.2), same issues

Response from developer

Thanks for being among the first to try out Workout Tools. We definitely got off to a rocky launch. We've since discovered that the ads are the source of the crashes on the iPhone so we've temporarily disabled them until we can find a more permanent solution. We're also working out some minor issues which we plan on addressing in future updates. Now that Workout Tools on the iPhone appears to be much more stable, we would invite you to update the app and give it another try. If you believe it's significantly better, please consider editing your rating so others might be encouraged to download and try out the app. The more people who use Workout Tools, the sooner we'll be able to continue improving it by pushing out even more useful features.
