Still issues after 8 months and no improvement

The new version of the app incorrectly records my 1st rep at about 1/3 of the force of the remaining reps. This is not an issue with the earlier app version which I retained precisely because of this issue. Very poor software development. Am seriously considering giving up training with the k-box because of this frustration. Without a correctly functioning app the equipment is worthless if progress can’t be measured.

Old App Way Better

The old app was way easier to use and much more strait forward. All the data points you wanted to see quickly on one scroll screen… they over complicated the app trying to “fancy” it up for a sales pitch. This is coming from someone who has spent over 25k on their products. I’ll probably look elsewhere since they are now trying to monetize their equipment data… which their equipment was already expensive to begin with. Very disappointed and was an OG customer when they first came out.

Hello, thanks for reaching out. Sorry to hear you are disappointed. With the new app we have added a lot of features and it is true some are behind pay wall but we included a lot more in the free version in the new app and also reduced the pricing quite a bit for the paid levels. One big point of the new app was to make the free version a lot better. With more metrics and features it can be tricker to find the information you need and this is something we prioritise to make it clear and easy to navigate. If you have specific pain points or issues please let our team know so we can make sure to address these, you can reach them at appsupport@exxentric.com. Our app team loves to get direct feedback, especially from OG users.

Looks fancy =/= better

The old app was better, it just needed better performance for saving data. This app is a huge downgrade for me. It’s clunky, it’s unintuitive, migrating data and users is a pain, it messes up my progress because I can’t set my training the same way. I used to do a 1% power drop off, this app only lets me set 95% as the highest. If I go to 99% it just bumps to 100%. Changing the settings for a session wastes so much extra time. I would much rather just scroll down and click the settings I want than have to click into 3 different modals to figure out what settings need to be changed. Instead of going straight to my normal workout, I have to go into the workouts section, go find the workout I want to do, add it, and then I’m stuck with a modal on my screen and a tiny little button at the top left to actually go to the training. If I don’t click that button I lose what I added. It’s just very unintuitive, very clunky, the data is presented in a way that really is not useful to me at all, and after having 5 years of consistent, controlled data, I now have to change the way that my training goes which throws off my trend lines. Just a huge downgrade for me. The only problem with the old app is it took over a minute to save every workout and would error out every time, but the data still saved so I could deal with it because overall it worked.

Also the audacity to make a way worse app, then hide basic features like velocity behind a pay wall, and then make the app so bad that I can’t even select a plan to pay for is crazy.

This app is basically useless at this point. I literally just memorize my power outputs every week because it’s easier than using the app

Hello, thanks for your feedback. Regarding the %-drop that change was a miscommunication and we are correcting that in the coming version. We would be interested to hear more in details what you feel is clunky so we can look into that. Being users of the old app ourselves for years I think this version is much more responsive and easier to use. I does however have a lot more features like setting up workouts and even training plans. About your normal workout it sounds like you would benefit going creating your workout by adding the exercises, adjust the first set with desired inertia and stop conditions and then just add sets (they will the inherit same settings). When you are done before starting training you can save it as a custom workout or if you go to results and view your old session you can choose "train again". This will save you a lot of time and you can also easily create variations of these workouts and also put them together in a training plan if you like. Hope that helps. If you want to specify more could be improved or what you miss in the app please let us know and we would be happy to add it to our list of updates. Our existing users was a priority when we migrated to this new app platform so your feedback is important. You can reach us at appsupport@exxentric.com

Bring back the old app

Agree with the other reviewer that this new app is a step backwards. The kmeter no longer works reliably, basic functionality no longer exists, and the move to put functionality behind a subscription is very disappointing for people who have already invested a lot in their Exxentric equipment.

Thanks for taking the time to share this — we understand why this feels frustrating, especially if you’ve invested in Exxentric equipment and rely on the app to train. We’re actively working to improve reliability and to restore/strengthen key day-to-day functionality. In particular, we agree the kMeter connection and stability must be consistent. If you’re seeing unreliable kMeter behavior, please contact appsupport@exxentric.com — we’ll help troubleshoot and use your details to prioritize fixes. On the subscription change: we hear the feedback. Our goal is to keep core training usable while funding continued development and added features, but we understand the disappointment when something you previously used feels restricted. Your feedback is being shared with the team as we continue to adjust what’s included and improve the overall experience. If you’re open to it, we’d really appreciate the specifics of which “basic functionality” you feel is missing — that helps us target the highest-impact improvements.

Yearly video subscription

Exxentric must be out of their mind. The new look is good but $250/yr (or $25/mo) for ACCESS to VIDEOS? You have to be joking. Not even coaching, just workout videos to follow along to. Would I be willing to do a one-time payment for lifetime access to a collection of videos? Sure. Let us download. And when I exhaust a collection I’d even buy more. But pointless ongoing subscriptions need to die and this is one of those. I hope you read this exxentric, there’s a better way.

The highest tier your reference (professional) is to get access to having 999 clients in the app, manage their data, see their progress, send workouts and programs to them. It also unlocks all content, workouts like you mention but also all educations. This tier is for a specific subset of our professional users. To just unlock training content premium level at $10 is enough but you can also use free version to record your data, track your progress and still have access to some free workouts and education. We are adding content on all levels and if you are just looking to track your training we would recommend starting on the free tier.
