Unuseable audio feature locked behind an update following $20 upgrade.
I’ve used the Dauntless App for both Private and Instrument over the past year. Moving onto Commercial, I planned on continuing that pattern. This app is in need of significant upgrades. The app won’t pull from the update library. The audio feature will only download the sound files once updated. The update consistently fails both the normal update and the alternate update process, making the audio read back feature in accessible. I expect more from a $65 + $20 app.

Questions Not Current with TEST
While I passed the test, I didn’t even come close to the scores that I had in the Dauntless practice tests. I found that there were very few questions in the actual test that were found in the Dauntless Commercial test prep. While the software did prepare me to pass the test, I was shocked on how many questions were on the actual test that Dauntless did not prepare me to answer. I too found that support is extremely poor. I used Dauntless because it prepared me so well for my instrument rating, but that was years ago. If I were starting over, I would definitely procure the Sheppard Air product as it has a fresh and up to date database of questions and provides the same level of instruction as Dauntless.

“Actual FAA questions” Not 100% true
It’s a great software that I’ve used for both my Instrument and Commercial, but their quote of “Actual FAA questions” isn’t true. So if you’re looking to download and just memorize and not learn the content this isn’t the app, I would suggest you use the app to learn the concepts from each question because only 3 out of 100 questions on the test were on dauntless.

Not the best choice, Rude Company
Use Sheppard Air. I have used both and there is no comparison. Sheppard gets my students ready much faster and results in much higher test scores. Dauntless' staff is callous and difficult to access. They don't have a phone number to reach them with, and are generally slow to respond with an email. The opposite is true with Sheppard.

Great way to study
I have tried to use other applications to help me study for various FAA tests but they would have outdated questions or it would only be a final test and not help with the preparation of the test. I believe that the work that was put into this app but all the other apps that they have made is extremely well thought out and done in a fashion that makes it easy for the user to customize what they need to study for and what they are having trouble remember for the test. They also have amazing customer support for any questions that you have or any problems you have with the app. I would recommend this app to anyone who wants to study for an FAA test and be able to study anywhere at anytime.

Scored a 92% on my commercial pilot glider test! Although about 70% of the questions were on the real test it is safe to say that this software is great for learning the knowledge! Even though I came across a few unfamiliar questions you can still work through them with what you have learned through the practice questions! One example of these minor differences were if a question was asked and the answers were to be in fahrenheit on the practice software, on the real test they asked for the answer in Celsius. So on the practice test the answer would be (more than 68 degrees F) and on the actual test the answer is (more than 20 degrees C) Little things like that! But all in all would definitely recommend for anyone looking to study for the commercial pilot glider test!

New knowledge test for airplane commercial win!
I have used Dauntless applications for airplane private pilot, instrument, commercial, instrument and advanced ground instructor and airplane Cfi and they are by far the best products on the market in my opinion-I will continue to use them as I go forward for CFII and multi engine- I took the actual FAA commercial airplane test today in Allentown Pennsylvania and I scored an 89% and a large part of that credit goes to this effective application- I used the app almost daily and I updated twice a week to make sure I have the latest content and it all apparently worked very well- The convenience of having this tool available at all times can not be over stated

Are they providing the correct questions
I took my knowledge test today and got a 83 %. I walked into the testing center feeling fully prepared as I had been using this app to study for months. On the practice test I would consistently score in the 90% range. When I sat down and started the test I quickly realized I had never seen most of the questions. Out of the 100 questions on the test I went back through and counted there were 15 that were similar to what I had seen on this app. The other 85 questions were completely new to me. The only reason this isn’t a one star is I enjoy the dauntless interface and the way you can select different modes and question stacks. Some final thoughts for anyone reading this, I use Dauntless because the school I attend requires that we use it for a grade. I have had the vast majority of my professors and Flight Instructors tell me to use Sheppard Air if I want to do good.

iPhone App Terrible
First of all, I love these study guides and have used them to pass both my private and instrument written tests. However the iPhone app doesn't work. Works on iPad flawlessly but the questions glitch on the iPhone. I'll be studying on the iPad from here on.
Outdated questions
I felt so confident when I went into the testing center bc I had been getting mid 90s on all the practice tests. I took about 6 tests and then continued to just study the questions I got wrong multiple times. I basically memorized all the other questions. Out of 100 questions there were maybe 30 on the test that I had seen before for the commercial airplane test. They have a section of 55 questions on physiology and psychology and none of the questions on the test were remotely the same! Before I took the test I could rip through 100 random questions in the test prep in about 20 mins. I knew I was in trouble when I literally didn’t recognize any of the answers or questions. Total waste of time and honestly a lot of money bc now I have to wait to retake my test... yeah. I didn’t pass.

I recommend 85
For the comercial pilot helicopter is about 85 %, nothing bad. But unfortunately is not 100 %

Fantastic Test Prep
I’ve used Dauntless for all of my FAA tests and have always passed with high scores. I enjoy the app’s feature that allows you to focus on specific topics. All of the reference materials have been cited or consolidated into each question, which allows you to learn the material from the source. My commercial test was straightforward and I’m once again impressed with Dauntless’s platform. Thank you!!

Outdated database
I’ve used this company for all my written’s and even outdated written’s I had to take again, I really like the layout and in the past the explanations were amazing it helping you understand why a certain answer was correct over the other options, however in the past couple years I’ve noticed less explanations and less visuals and references and more so just a simple FAA referance highlighted from the Aim or whatever source. Anyway that alone doesn’t deter me, I understand it’s hard to keep content up to date, I just think with the competition what’s being offered now is not worth the price. If a person uses this product to study expect to get about 7 percent lower score on your actual exam then you do on all your practice ones as the database seems to be about that old consistently

Frustrated! I paid, but I did not receive what they promised ...
Many content repeated between the questions, and some does not make sense, and very poorly explained, I paid extra to have the audio learn option.
and only a few of them have audio available.
Ex: performance are 74 questions , but they are only available 22 in audio for to you learning.

Keep it fresh!
I also feel bad about writing this but their questions database is very out of date (there are still 20+ questions on NDB’s and ADF’s with a disclaimer in the explanation...these have long since been eliminated from the test..) ... they claim to be updating their content but, while the content is correct, it only distantly resembles what you see on the test.
They do explain things well &, since I understood the material, I would up with a good score on the test...there just was a lot of crap to wade thru to get to the stuff I needed to know.

The only way I prepare for tests, or let my students take them
I’ve used Dauntless apps to prepare for every FAA written test I’ve taken, and my lowest score is 90%.
Two features that are absolutely worth mentioning are the ability to share test results with an instructor, which allows a student to prepare on their own tim. An instructor can track preparation and even provide a remote sign-off (by scanning the endorsement and emailing it).
The second feature is that the app gets free updates for life. I began in aviation as a glider pilot, and used the app to pass my glider test. When I decided to fly airplanes, I updated the app and its question bank, and studied for another test at no charge. If you will be taking lots of knowledge tests, the free updates will save you a bundle.
Don’t use this app to memorize test questions. The FAA no longer publishes test questions, so no app will have a question bank to simply memorize. Go through the question bank, READ all of the excellent explanations, and you’ll be prepared for whatever the FAA puts on your test.

Out of date question bank
I feel bad writing this, but I just finished the commercial written exam today (March 8th, 2018) with a 79% score.
I studied religiously with this app, regularly updated it, and from the 100 questions on the exam I had seen only about 15-20% of these questions on the Dauntless app. The rest were all new to me.
The app is well made and the study options are good. However they’re not worth much if the question bank is outdated.

used dauntless ifr, only thing it is good for is to listen in the car. you can't do that on this version without paying another $20. what a joke.
Good app
I used it for my MCH exam and scored 92%. Most the questions were on the actual exam.
Love the app, the update not so much
Graph charts without drawing capability lends itself to guessing with no skills being improved. Need to be able to turn off these graph questions as it's very impractical on an iPhone screen anyway. Unfortunately, an email to the helpdesk did not work and phones numbers are intentionally unavailable.
