Family Chess is real chess for you and your kid, sharing one iPhone or iPad.
Lay the device flat on the table between you: their half of the screen faces
them, yours faces you. No accounts, no chess robot — just the two of you. You
do not need to know chess to play.
ONE MEMBERSHIP, YOUR WHOLE FAMILY
A Family Chess membership unlocks the whole app, and one membership can cover
up to 6 people through Apple Family Sharing. Two players or six, it is the same
membership. Every feature and every piece style is included with membership.
WHY IT WORKS
• KID POWER — five levels (Even match, Little help, Head start, Big boost,
Superhero boost) that trade YOUR original queen and rooks down, all the way
to pawns. Before or during an unfinished game, a safe dial change updates
every surviving power piece together right away. Captured pieces stay
captured. If the request is unsafe, an inline note leaves the board alone —
nothing is queued for a later move. After the game ends, its board stays
fixed and the selected level is ready for the next game. Both players still
play to win.
• GLOWING MOVE DOTS — tap any piece, even out of turn, and every square it
could reach lights up. That is how the moves get learned: by playing.
• SHOW MY MOVES — one press on their side of the table draws every move they
can make right now, in a quiet five-second wave.
• HINTS THAT TURN TO FACE THEM — gentle, wordy nudges ("look for a piece that
is lonely") appear rotated toward their side of the table.
• TABLE GAMES — Pawn Race, First Catch, King of the Hill, and Three Checks:
short games with real chess rules, for the nights nobody has forty minutes.
• GROWTH JOURNAL — games played together, how Kid Power came down over time,
and the date of the first checkmate won with no hints and no take-backs. One
tap makes a milestone card you can share; nothing leaves the device unless
you send it yourself.
• PARENT TIPS — one short, practical card at the start of a game, written for
the grown-up holding the rail, plus a family challenge to try each week.
• 11 PIECE ART STYLES — Classic, Cartoon, Modern, Storybook, Royal Glow,
Tournament, Chessnut, Candy, Clay Toy, Painted, and Wooden. Let them argue
about it.
• A SWIPEABLE PARENT RAIL — every control lives in a slim bar at your edge and
never interrupts the board. Swap sides, start fresh, lock take-backs, toggle
chimes.
Real rules underneath: castling, en passant, promotion (with a picker that
faces whoever earned it), checkmate, stalemate, and draws — and an end-of-game
card that faces both of you and tells the truth about how the game actually
ended.
Players are saved on the device with their own name and color, so the app
remembers who is playing and where each of them sits on the Kid Power ladder.
The game runs on your device with no accounts, ads, or analytics. Gameplay
works offline after Apple has loaded and verified membership; loading plans,
buying, restoring, and managing membership require an App Store connection.
