Isn't working
Was working great for a couple weeks and loved using this app as I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and family history and genealogy is very important. I can't seem to get any of my ancestors to show up on the map. Can you please work on resolving this issue or let me know if there is another LDS app that you are working on to replace this one? Thank you.

Does not work!
I downloaded this app with anticipation wanting to have a map of my ancestral roots... Nothing, 0, zilch! Great concept unfortunately this app is a dud. Giving one stare cause it won't let me do zero
Doesn't show anything
Most of my genealogy has been with proper location names and spellings for Family Search. This app finds 0. Not a good app as it sits. Great idea.

This is a great idea and pinpoints birthplaces of ancestors, unfortunately, only on my fathers side.

Love the concept of this app. Unfortunately, most of the locations on my tree are not recognized and not shown. Developers do say they need to be formatted properly to show, but doesn't show or explain how. Some help here would be good. Possible expansion would include birth and death locations and tied together with a ribbon. Cool app!

Now it has stopped.
App seems to be broken...
Entered my login info, said it connected and downloaded data, then came up with no data, although much is there. Must be broken.

Useful, has limitations
Only limitation is the 399 max number of records. It seems to choose them at random if you have more then 399 records. So you run the risk of a large percentage not showing any location. I've tested it and it varies from 60 - 80% depending on the records selected by the randomizer. I get a different number of locations found each time I update. It would be very nice if the 399 was increased to a larger number to give a better visualization. The other option would be that it only chooses records with a known location. Also noted that church locations such as Far West, MO do not show up as a location.

Has potential but unreliable
I like the mapping features as I can quickly see where my ancestors were born or who was born where I'm going on vacation to make it easier to do research. However, it is unreliable. It would not map my grandparents or all the great grandparents even though they are dead and have all the birth places required. If I reload the info, some of the pins are different, some missing, and some new ones appear. Why can't it be the same ones all the time as my family search info hasn't changed?
I also don't like how it zooms in close when clicking on a name and then I have to zoom out a lot to look at another name. I should have the option of zooming in or not.
It does not seem to know name changes of locations. one location in Hungary that has been renamed by the next generation is shown to be 50 miles away on the map, but are really the same place, just renamed. Locations are not pinpoint accurate, just generally close.
Also would be nice if I could click on the name and be taken to FamilySearch to see the full record.

Layne, please make a relative finder app, that way you could use family search to see if you're related to people
I'm glad someone made this app!
I have been trying the hard, manual way to do what this app does in order to try to determine if a possible ancestral record is close to other ancestors. I'm super excited to have this app and see what developments happen with it in the future.

Great app
Love it. Helps with visualizing where all my ancestors came from.
Recommended modifications
1. Have a list of the ancestors that were unable to be mapped out
2. Have a place the user can type in the name of a specific ancestor and go to their point.

Non conclusive.
My mum is Australian, her family has been there for ages, however, this map app doesn't put any pins in Australia. There is something wrong with this app when it only shows a fraction of locations recorded in family history.
Useful tool
A useful tool for visualizing the distances between the families in your tree.
Very Usefull
If you have more than a couple ancestors in familySearch this is a use full app. It helped me visualize where my family line came from. Quickly saw I had ancestors near by I could research.
Has potential
I got the app because we are on a road trip an I wanted to easily see where I would cross paths with ancestral records. Unfortunately, this app doesn't remember the info it has already downloaded and so when you "update" it starts over completely in downloaded birth places. There are inevitable network failures (ie, people who don't get downloaded) and they are different every time. Annoying!
I think it would be cool if it would allow you to create different maps based on different life events and maps following just a particular line. I also wish it would allow you to see more information about the ancestor.
All in all I wish it was more integrated into Family Search. Is there a Family Search app?

Very limited value
It only shows where your ancestors came from. I already knew that. No menu options to find ancestors that it couldn't locate. No list of ancestors to know what has been mapped. It could at least show a pedigree chart. I wouldn't have bought it knowing what I know now.
Interesting, but limited usefulness
Pretty interesting, but it isn't really useful. Numerous network errors and missing people indicate that it isn't very accurate yet. It isn't worth paying for.
Useful app
Very limited purpose. It just shows you on a world map where all your ancestors are from. However, it is very cool to show your family. You just won't use it very often.
