About
Crossing the river Scheldt in Antwerp by foot or by bike usually means picking between the ferries, the bike tunnel, or the pedestrian tunnel - without knowing which one is actually fastest right now.
"Fast across the Scheldt" answers that in one glance.
Open the app and it instantly ranks all four crossings by how quickly you could actually reach and use each one from where you're standing, right now:
- Sint-Anna ferry (free foot/bike ferry)
- De Waterbus ferry (foot/bike ferry)
- Kennedy bike tunnel (bike / pedestrian tunnel)
- Sint-Anna tunnel (pedestrian / slow bike tunnel)
HOW IT WORKS
Using your current location and the time right now, the app calculates your real walking or cycling time to each crossing point, checks live departure times for the ferry and De Waterbus (ferry), and pulls live open/disrupted/closed status for both tunnels - then sorts all four options fastest-first. No guessing, no switching between four different websites or apps.
ANTWERP VELO
Don't have a bike on you? Switch to Antwerp Velo mode and the app plans a full door-to-door trip using Antwerp's public bike-share network — the nearest station with an available bike near you, and the nearest station with a free dock on the other side — with live bike and dock counts for every station.
PLAN A TRIP
Heading out later today, or next week? Plan a trip for any future date and time, either by the moment you want to leave or the moment you need to arrive, and the app works out the best crossing and the exact leaving/arrival time for each option. Save the ones you'll use again, and optionally get a reminder shortly before it's time to go.
ADDRESS BOOK
Save the addresses you use often — Home, Work, or anywhere else — so planning a trip is a couple of taps, not typing an address every time.
BUILT FOR ANTWERP, NOTHING ELSE
This is a small, focused app that does one thing well: telling you the fastest way over the river Scheldt, right now or for a trip you're planning. There's no advertising, no account to create, and no analytics or tracking software of any kind. Your location is processed entirely on your device to work out the fastest crossing — it's never sent to or stored on any server.
The only backside: uninstalling the app or changing to a new phone will not keep the stored addresses. You are warned :-) but we are convinced this only a minor drawback for experiencing a fluent and direct install-to-use experience, without the need for registering and having personal data stored in the Cloud!
Available in English, Dutch, French, and German.
Whether you're commuting, cycling, or just heading across town, "Fast across the Scheldt" gets you over the water the fastest way possible.
