About
Turn real animal sightings into a collection that grows with you. Photograph a bird, mammal, insect, spider, reptile, amphibian, fish, mollusk, crustacean, or another animal and get a likely species identification.
SCAN ANIMALS AROUND YOU
Photograph a real animal
Use the in-app camera for wildlife, pets, or zoo sightings. If no clear animal is detected, FaunaNote asks you to try another photo.
Get a likely species ID
FaunaNote suggests up to three possible matches with confidence. Results can be wrong, so you can review the common name, scientific name, and visible evidence before saving.
Build one global collection
Every species becomes one collectible entry. A zoo, pet, and wild sighting of the same species all add to that species instead of creating artificial duplicates or rarity.
Explore every animal group
Browse birds, mammals, insects, arachnids, reptiles, amphibians, fish, mollusks, crustaceans, and more. Search your discoveries and see repeat sightings.
Keep a personal sighting log
Save optional context and notes for each observation. Edit or delete your local entries whenever you like.
Map sightings privately
When you save an animal and allow location access, FaunaNote can add a private approximate place to your on-device map. Location is optional and never blocks a save.
Stay curious
Open a species card to revisit its common and scientific names, animal group, sightings, notes, context, and a short fact.
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
Your saved collection, notes, and approximate places stay on this device. For species identification, FaunaNote sends the captured photo through the app service hosted on Vercel to Google Vertex AI for processing. See the Privacy Policy for provider details and possible service-security retention.
