Does everything BUT what the user wants
It is absolutely insane that you cannot do a speed test specifically for Wi-Fi to challenge a Wi-Fi provider. That is the main reason that the majority of users downloaded this app for. And asking for personal info just to even try to run a challenge test? This feels like collusion with Wi-Fi providers to let them get away with false advertising and the good old data broker scheme.

Waste of time
Challenged T-Mobile last 03 years with no results from the fcc
Test is not accurate compared to Ookla speed test. T-Mobile is fraudulent claiming service exists in areas where the signal is intermittent at best and mostly SOS.

Old version was Better
Like the old version better, didn't require name, email and other personal informational. The way they keep and store data is questionable at best.

I’m trying to report a dead spot with AT&T, and the app wouldn’t load because there wasn’t any cell coverage.

Great app. Accurately checks and displays speeds.
Invasive privacy
I used the FCC speed test over a year ago, and it didn’t ask for any personal information. Recently, my internet has been slow, so I went back to the FCC site — but it has completely changed. Now it asks for my name, email, phone number, location, and more. I’m not comfortable providing that information, and I’d rather use another app than let the FCC collect my data

Unneeded permissions and sharing of our data . Location , name and address all while selling our data . This is a FCC app not a data broker app . Old version had none of this and worked well . This is unacceptable
Personal Data
You can’t do anything with the app without giving up personal data. While I can see the point of the location data, I don’t see the rationale to give up my PII. Won’t be using it. And getting forced off the old app is another insult.
“Airplane mode” bug
This app is buggy and is unable to perform speed tests in areas I do not receive service in Northern Wisconsin which really defeats the point of this app. When I start a test in an area without service it says I need to turn off airplane mode but I am not in airplane mode, I just do not have service. Phone companies in northern Wisconsin have removed 3g service coverage which has significantly impacted phone coverage and dropped calls gave increased greatly.

Questionable data access
I really liked the original FCC speed test as it seemed accurate, didn’t ask for personal info, and didn’t require location services on. Now this new version requires location and personal contact info. Of course the app will allow a Quick Check test without entering personal info but that’s it. If you’re wanting any functionality out of this app then be prepared to tell them all your contact info, location, and even whether you are inside or outside. If they are hoping to use cellular speeds to help build cell signal maps then all they would need is your speed results plus location instead of my personal contact info.

Highly Suspect
Why is this framed to look like an official U.S. government app that’s made by a developer that doesn’t have a website? If you click on support, the page gives a 404.

Great improvement in the latest update
The app now performs efficiently without needing any Pll to be captured. Kudos to the team for listening in and enhancing user privacy and delivering a more secure experience.Keep up the good work
