About
Fence Plotter helps you plan a fence and prepare what your city's permit office asks for.
Start with an address. In covered cities the app loads lot lines on file and draws them on satellite imagery. Tap to drop posts along the run you have in mind. The total feet of fence updates as you draw, side by side, with a gate wherever you want one. Pick a height and a material.
Check the rules. For the cities we cover, Fence Plotter lists the local fence rules next to your plan: height limits, setbacks, neighbor consent, fees. Each line shows the code limit, your plan value and a verdict of pass, check or fail. Read the city code from the same screen.
Build the packet. One tap makes a PDF with a cover, plot plan, elevation summary, ordinance check, materials list, optional photos and a neighbor letter. In the five Grosse Pointe, Michigan cities it also fills the city's permit form. Share the PDF by email, message or print.
What to know:
- Lot lines on file come from public records and can sit several feet off. Plans and packets are approximate, not a survey. Confirm with your city before you build.
- Coverage is 57 cities across a handful of states. Outside them you still get a drafting grid, the footage and the materials list, but no city rules or lot lines. See the Coverage screen for the current list.
- Fence Plotter is not affiliated with any city and does not submit anything for you. You decide what to hand the permit office.
- Every job is saved on your device and works offline. Works on iPhone, iPad and foldables. No account, no ads.
- Location is used only when you ask, to find your address or to place posts while you walk the fence line. Your address text is sent to our server for the lot lookup. Nothing else leaves your phone unless you share a packet.
