Find places the old maps remember Open the old map and tap the new Places button to see what the surveyors wrote on the sheet. Names. Pubs, mills, chapels, wells, schools and farms, plus houses, woods, hills and more as you zoom in. Filter by type to find just the farms, or just the lost inns. Not in records. Places the old map marks that no open record we hold covers. Good starting points for somewhere nobody has looked. Cut-outs. Want to see only the names? Switch the old map to a small cut-out round each pin, so the map stays out of the way. The slider fades them. Tap any pin for a picture of the old map at that spot, a short note on what that kind of place was, and the grid reference. Look through the ground with the LiDAR loupe. Open it from the ruler, or tap View LiDAR here on any old map pin. A circle shows the palaeochannel LiDAR right where you're looking, with a choice of colours. Drag it, make it bigger or smaller, and see old river courses through the field. Dig folders. Group your recorded digs by field. Link a folder to the permission you saved for that field, so everything from one place sits together. Tithe maps in many more counties. See who farmed each plot in the 1840s, with a colour key for how the land was used. Fade them with the opacity bar, and use the Go to chips to jump straight to an area. Also in this update • The old map now opens plain every time, with nothing highlighted until you ask • Footpaths follow the dashed lines more closely, including paths that cross roads and streams • Heights written along contour lines are no longer picked up as footpaths • Filter counts only list what is in your view • Fixes and small improvements
