It also always gives you an answer, because a confident answer converts. Fieldmark is $29.99 a year, and the first thing it will do is tell you when it does not know. IT WILL TELL YOU WHEN IT DOESN'T KNOW Every identification carries a confidence band. When it cannot reach the species it rolls up to the genus and says so. When the photo is not enough, it says "not enough evidence" instead of picking the most likely thing and sounding sure about it. FIELDMARK NEVER SAYS EDIBLE Not for a mushroom, not for a berry, not ever. In published testing, three identifier apps got poisonous mushrooms right between 30% and 44% of the time, and two of them returned false death cap identifications. What Fieldmark does instead is name the dangerous lookalikes for whatever you are pointing at, and show a banner you cannot dismiss. A KEY, NOT A SHUTTER BUTTON A photo cannot show you the volva under the soil, the spore print, or whether the stem is hollow. For fungi and foraged plants Fieldmark runs a real dichotomous key and asks you — because those are the features that actually separate a good dinner from a liver transplant.
