FAQ
What is FieldPrism used for?
FieldPrism is used to standardize field measurements by capturing photos with precise scaling and orientation. It helps create measurement-ready images for scientific documentation, such as for herbarium specimens, ecological samples, and archaeological finds.
How does FieldPrism ensure accurate scaling?
FieldPrism uses on-device machine learning to detect ruler markers on printable FieldSheets. This process automatically corrects perspective and rotation, ensuring that each pixel corresponds to a known physical distance, with a configurable output of 100 pixels = 1 cm.
What types of output images does FieldPrism provide?
FieldPrism provides three output images per capture: a raw photo, an 'FP-Fit' image trimmed to the markers with adjustable padding, and an 'FP-Expanded' image preserving the full scene. Each is paired with an overlay showing detected markers.
Can I organize my captured images with FieldPrism?
Yes, FieldPrism allows for project-based organization. You can group captures into projects, browse project galleries, restore deleted projects, and keep long-running field campaigns tidy.
Does FieldPrism collect user data?
No, FieldPrism does not collect, transmit, or store any user data. All image processing happens on the device using Apple's Core ML, and there are no accounts, analytics, ads, or trackers.
What devices is FieldPrism compatible with?
