What's New in File Property Edit

3.7

August 31, 2026

VERSION 3.7 — SMART PRESET WORKFLOW, EXPANDED LIBRARY & MKV TAG SUPPORT • Apply Preset from Single File View: A new Apply Preset button in the file detail toolbar lets you instantly apply any saved preset to the current file with full formula support, undo history, and on-screen confirmation feedback. • Apply Preset Stages Changes: Applying a preset now stages changes in-memory first — a banner confirms the result and invites you to Save. No more silent auto-writes to disk. • Apply Preset from File List Context Menu: Right-click (Mac) or long-press (iOS) any file in the list to instantly apply a preset without opening the detail view, for rapid single-file metadata updates. • Batch Edit Selection Scope Toggle: When a subset of files is highlighted, a new segmented control in Batch Edit lets you target only selected files or all files, enabling precision batch operations. • 65 Built-in Presets: Major library expansion — 27 new presets spanning Music, Video, PDF, Photo, and Basic categories, all with smart formula support and localized descriptions. • Smart Preset Category Filtering: The preset menu now shows only relevant presets — Music for audio files, Video for video, Photo for images, PDF for PDFs, and Basic presets on the Basic tab only. • Manage Presets Sheet: Tap "Manage Presets…" to open a full-screen preset manager with category tabs (All, Music, Video, Photo, PDF, Basic), live search, reorder, edit, and delete — all in one place. • MKV/WebM Full Tag Support: Matroska video files now expose a complete tag set — TITLE, ARTIST, ALBUM, DATE, TRACKNUMBER, DISCNUMBER, COMPOSER, COPYRIGHT, ALBUMARTIST — fully editable and preset-compatible. • Video Copyright Atom Fixed: The "Video: Add Copyright" preset now correctly writes to the dedicated cprt atom instead of the comment field. • Preset Sanitization on Save: Saving a preset automatically removes unchecked template keys, keeping presets clean and free of stale ghost values. • Preset Undo History: Every single-file preset application is logged in the persistent undo history as "Apply Preset: {Name}" for complete reversibility. • Unified Action Toolbar: The file detail view now has a single persistent toolbar with Save, Batch Edit, Apply Preset, Undo, and History for faster one-tap access. • Persistent Toolbar in Landscape (iOS): The action toolbar stays fully visible when rotating to landscape on iPhone and iPad — no more disappearing buttons on rotation. • Batch Edit Count Badge: The Batch Edit toolbar button now shows a live badge with the number of files in the current batch, so you always know your operation scope. • EXIF Uncheck All Fixed: The "Uncheck All" toggle for EXIF tags in Batch Edit now correctly deselects every EXIF property checkbox.

Feature request

Can you add a dedicated section to manipulating templates? Whenever I save a template I just created, even though I have only one box checkmarked, nearly all file attributes are saved. So that overwrites the modification time, permissions, etc to all files that I apply an album name formula to. It would also be nice to have the ability to quickly select from templates or custom formulas that we apply to only one file. Maybe I haven't figured it out, but it seems that either have to modify one file or all files that are currently in the list. It would be great to select these.

I'm meaning, that it would be nice to be able to create a template and select fields I want to add a formula to from scratch. Not having to modify a preset or create one from the currently selected fields.

Thanks, awesome app. Best I've found in the App Store

(This is on ios by the way)

Response from developer

Thank you so much for the kind words and constructive feedback! You've highlighted two great points that we are addressing immediately in our upcoming update: Preset & Template Field Isolation: When saving a template, it will now strictly save only the specific fields you explicitly checkmark, preventing any unintended attribute overwrites (like file modification dates or permissions) on other files. Dedicated Template Studio (Build from Scratch): We are introducing a standalone Template Builder where you can create presets from scratch, add/remove any metadata field across Audio, EXIF, PDF, and Attributes, and configure formulas without needing to load or modify an existing file first. Targeted Multi-File Selection & Single File Quick Apply: You will be able to select specific subsets of files via checkboxes on iOS to batch process, as well as apply any template or formula directly to a single file with one tap. Thank you for helping make FilePropertyEdit even better. Stay tuned for this update!

Big Fail on batch

First off, I tried to go to the website for support but whatever you push on the website just redisplays the web page with no help. I have the $10 paid version, I tried a simple batch change of album name for 8 files. It said it was successful for 8 files yet it only changed one. This product does not work and there is no one to ask for help. Don’t use/buy. Have requested a refund. We’ll see if apple screws me also.

Response from developer

Sorry to hear that, we have updated our support url, you can submit support ticket there. Also, for batch edit multiple files, please use the batch edit button next to the save button, it will save the props to all files in the list, please let us know if anything else we can help, thanks!

Some features are not working

It could be a great app if batch date operations were functioning.

It did exactly what I needed

This is a simple but power batch metat data editor and it works perfectly. Just pay the $10!

Work Just Fine....

The other reviewers don't seem to be reading the discription. This app deserves a much better rating than given. It did exactly what I bought it for. And YES, you need internet when you use it unless you have paid for the app. Then it doesn't require internet any more.

Thanks for a great, easy and affordable product.
