Can’t believe this is free
In my search to find an alternative to Google Drive I stumbled upon this and I’m glad I did. I wholeheartedly believe it’s better than any other European model - it has more robust features, offers a very generous amount of free cloud storage, and, best of all, has a responsive developer.
Moving forward I will not use Proton, Nextcloud or anything other than Filen.
This is a true gem and I sincerely hope more people find this.

Only crashes
I just started using this service, and I want to like it so bad. The Linux desktop app works well for me so far, but I haven't been able to use the iOS app here successfully at all. My first real use case (and reason for signing up) is to share large video files (for example, a much longer than necessary elementary school musical), beyond what Ente supports. But attempting to do literally anything with the files mov files uploaded from Linux results in either a hang or a crash. I hope this isn't the rewrite that I've seen discussed in places. I guess I can look forward to that.

Needs some work
I love what this app can do. I also love that it’s based in the EU, however, the UI is very buggy, especially if you rotate from portrait to landscape on an iPad. Sometimes the sorting options menu doesn’t open either. Needs work.
Music pause when I minimise the app
App is good but music pauses when I minimise in iphone 13,

Sign up is a pain
I tried to make an account so I can download a file online. Despite having an account set up page, you cannot sign up using the app. You have to do it online. I tried to on the app for like 20 minutes.
Notes 😭
I decided to move my Apple Notes to Filen, and it was an absolute nightmare. At first, I thought everything went great and smoothly, but soon I found out that I hadn’t transferred anything at all, because everything either disappeared for an unknown reason or simply wasn’t saved. I also noticed an interesting “feature”: when you change the note type (for example, from plain text to rich text) while you already have some text in it, the text just disappears. Don’t get me wrong — I really like the app, and I can see you have some really good and convenient ideas, like Notes and Music, for instance, but the implementation is really not good enough to use those features. I also believe I lost some of my uploaded photos, but I can’t prove it.

Reliable and secure
Really appreciate having alternative cloud storage options that are reliable, secure and privacy preserving. I found Filen after shutting down my iCloud that was spamming me by Apple. Do you need a way to backup your iphone photos without paying thousands of dollars to a multi-trillion dollar company? This cloud service makes a great backup option! Great customer service too, I had reached out more than once and the kind people there were quick and efficient at getting my issues resolved quickly. I highly recommend this. Thank you Filen.

Reliable cloud storage at a great price
I love this service! The desktop applications are fantastic! The ios app can feel a little clunky sometimes, but the developers are regularly updating it and making it better. The browser experience on a computer interface is fantastic, though, which is why I still provide the glowing 5-stars!

Can’t Navigate App Anymore
I signed up find by myself earlier but now can’t access UI with VoiceOver on anymore (I am fully blind and was interested in life plans)

Filen is a really good backup up solution.
Crashing
The app crashes when you try to upload stuff with the current few versions of IOS. This is making it very very difficult to upload my photos and videos I pay filen to host. This is shaping my opinion of this company. I’ve tried different settings, networks, etc. It just crashes whenever accessing photos from my albums after a like 20 seconds. So even if I select photos to upload and it starts uploading it’ll crash. I’m having to keep re-opening the app over and over and over to get a few photos to actually go through. I’ve restarted over 60 times trying to get some vacation photos up as it uploads like 1 photo per crash. I have full access to my photos in my settings, my phone and the app are fully up to date, I’ve done more troubleshooting than I probably should have.

The latest app overhaul is 10 steps backward. Basic features are still missing and the layout is even less navigable than before.
