Files App User Reviews

Fits my need

In my mediation business I need files of temporary duration to contain information about the matters I am working on at the time. After I am through I delete. This app is exactly perfect for my particular needs. I have quit carrying paper files entirely and have everything I need at hand in the iPad.

This is an addendum: after installing ios 8, Files App no longer will access dropbox directly from the app. Major inconvenience. Perhaps there will be a fix.

Love this App

I have innumerable PDFs and other files that I like to have on hand to read and refer to, and have tried many PDF readers. This great app makes it so easy to put these in visual files, they open fast, and are accessible visually and in a List view. Can combine many different file types in one place. Very glad to have this.

Needs one thing!

This is a great app. I am certainly not complaining. I love how easy it is to interface with it on my computer. What I would really like to see is the ability to add folders and shortcuts to folders. For example, I have a ton of stuff on my Google drive. I want to be able to add a folder to the files app so that I can get to those folders and files inside them quickly.

FANTASTIC

Makes your Ipad a super easy to organize tool for use in sales or personal data. So fast and flexible, easy to get data, video, photos in and above all organized. Create file folders on the fly, named with what you want and even nested folders. I find it just the perfect app for professional sales person. Highly recommend it!

Amazing.

I love this app... It's a great way to access your Dropbox, Box and Google Drive accounts in one spot, and also have local access to files you need when you don't have 'net access.

The only updates I personally would ask for are access to a SkyDrive account, and also an addition to the interface that shows your account usage for each service. I think with those two additions, the app would be perfect... But it's already so good that I have to give it 5 stars :)

Just absolutely outstanding

I have tried many of these file manager apps in iOS and his is by far the best. Easy for file transfer from my PC and versatile in the kinds of files it can implement. My primary use is for avi videos and does this well. If you want to use files that are not supported by Apple or use them in a way the OS can't, you won't regret giving this app a spin!

Very nice style and look & feel...

I love the look and feel of this app, it's like having a missing part of iOS finally added.

ADDED: It would be nice to be able to have encrypted folders for secured documents.

The style is a big part of that as it looks and feels just like an extension of iOS, minus the accessibility to other apps sandboxes. (iOS platform "limitation" by design from Apple)

Finally!

An app that, more or less, allows me to finally do what I've always wanted and felt was missing on my iOS device: Organize my commonly needed/desired files for use without having to remember what app they're stored in or where I saved them to... The solution these guys came up with is an excellent answer to my frustrations! It seems to be stable, I've had no issues thus far (weeks into using it).
The only thing I would like to see added is a way to store an entire email conversation. But, what it does now is more than sufficient. So if you've ever wished you could organize your common files easily, and I mean REAL easily, drop the $$$ and don't worry about regrets, you'll be glad you have it!

Great app!

This app is great as it makes the transfer of files super simple eliminating the need to connect to iTunes to for example transfer a movie file.

It is near perfect and I am sure it will evolve even further. All it needs is more video format support and the ability to directly transfer files between iOS devices.

Hats off to the developer! Please continue to evolve and refine it further. It is a must have.

Perfect!

I haven't found a file this thing can't open. Opens Excel just fine along with a pile of other files. It has now become my favorite PDF reader. Search works amazingly well, inside the p as well as inside files. Silky smooth and a beautiful interface. Renaming files is a little funky but otherwise a perfect product. Excellent work!

Simply Amazing

This is a very elegant way to bring many of your cloud services to one app. It is a brilliant way to only see and organize files you care about seeing on your mobile device. There are tons of simple yet powerful features built in. I haven't been this excited about an app in a while! Well done!

Does what it advertises, but is missing something

If this app had the ability to upload documents to Dropbox, I would give it 5 stars. It does do exactly what it advertises, and does it well. But shortly after using the app for a bit, I had to reinstall the Dropbox app. I was using the free "Documents" by Readdle (which can manage Dropbox as well as simply download from it), but this app feels much more iOS-like and therefore is now my default file management app.

So far so good. Easy to use

I give the app 4 stars as there is always room for improvement. So fa though, this is the easiest file share app I have used on the iPad. You open the app, type the IP address on your device into the browser of your choice on Mac or PC and drag and drop files (your device and computer must be on the same WiFi network).
Very simple, you can view docs or play music/video right from the app on your device once the file transfer is complete.
AWESOME!
Cheers

More features please?

I like the idea of this app, but I think a few added features would make this a must have.

The ability to edit/view cloud storage files without importing them to your iDevice.
The ability to add folders as/is from your iDevice. (Adding my Downloads folder imports as its own folder, complete with all its contents)
Add all media on the iDevice. (Auto-detect all photos/videos/music, import individually, etc.)
Auto-refresh for the above features. (Anything added to the Downloads folder will be added to the Files folder, any new photos get added, new music, videos, etc.)
And lastly, SkyDrive support.

I'll tell you what, if you added these features, I'd be willing to buy the whole app all over again at twice the price.

Solved a problem a problem I had with iTunes Match

This app has a lot going for it.
My killer use is the music player.
I love iTunes Match but there are some remastered CDs that apple matched to the old version of the CD. Since you can not sync or manually add music to your device, if you have match turned on, I was stuck.
Now I can keep those albums on my phone locally and enjoy them anywhere.

Excellent utility

It would be presumptuous of me to tell others that this is a "must-have" app, but it really qualifies for that distinction in my situation. I would suggest to anyone having issues that they contact the developers. If you click the + sign and then settings, there is a feedback function that will generate an email to them. They are very responsive.
I've found that this app does precisely it says it will do and adds a great deal of functionality to iOS. The value it adds to my iOS experience far exceeds the modest price.

Good start

Interface is very well done. It is intuitive and fits well into iOS culture.
Would love to see more formats added in a future, ability to store files even if app cannot open them, and last but not least ability to upload to Dropbox and such. (Not only download) Maybe a folder sync?

P.S. application is well designed, and pleasant to use, but icon... Just does not fit overall

It just creates an extra step..

Seems well designed, and has serious potential. However, it's not at all the solution it could or should be.

I use Dropbox, two Google Drive accounts, Box and SFTP. You can connect to one each of the services (minus FTP) with the app, but you have to manually add everything you want to show up. So it creates yet another location for files I have to manage instead of being the unified single place I can go.

What does it need to make me happy? Automatic syncing and unified collection of files across all services. FTP/SFTP support would be glorious. Multiple account logins per service.

Icing: background audio?

I'm really looking forward to future updates. This could be a far superior experience than what's offered by the stand alone apps.

Good app

When compared to the numerous other similar file/document management applications this one is pretty good. The one negative that I have counted off for is importing from the internal photo app. I tried to import just 10 images and as I selected each one it hesitated at least 5 seconds before allowing me to tag the next to import. Tagging the images should be instantaneous and if there is any delay it should be in the actual importing. Once that is resolved I will increase my score.

Great potential, but not there yet.

I love the interface, it's exactly how I would imagine things working. However, to do what I want, which is to better organize/browse my Dropbox folder, this app requires me to individually import each file from Dropbox to be locally stored on this device.... Not an option with the cost of storage for iPads - not to mention, a pain if I have more than a dozen files total and not optimal since I would only be modifying a separate copy of my Dropbox files that would not be mirrored on other devices anyway.

Until the developers add the ability to use this interface on files that remain located in the cloud, this will only be a great conceptual UI demo.

I really hope that you guys take this to where it needs to go.
