Yuck

Simple budgeting but app sync doesn’t work

Filthyrich offers a delightfully simple approach to budgeting and really can work. You don’t watch the pennies so it’s more about a broad overview. I really like it, but... and it’s a big but, the sync function is really unreliable so sharing a budget between people doesn’t work and the developer hasn’t responded to support emails. Sad times.

Great concept, tad clunky!

My favorite thing about this app is that it’s not linked to my bank. I don’t have to categorize purchases or try to figure out what happened when someone paid me back for lunch with Venmo. I budget my bills and subscriptions out in Excel, but this app lets me budget my spending money. Instead of having a line item for coffee, and the nail salon, and everything else I can lump it all together in the budget and then track the spending here. The interface is a bit buggy, I had trouble deleting categories, and there is no back or undo button, but this is an easy way to track how you spend. I wish it was easier to change the income amount or a line item amount, but not clean slate the whole budget. I do like how easy it is the move money between items.

Great new app! Needs some work.

I just started using nimble and I’m really enjoying it so far. Creating a budget has never been easier and the app’s design is beautiful! There are a few bugs that need to be worked out, and once they’re improved, I’ll happily change my rating. Keep up the great work!

Issues:
- The “edit categories” button is all the way at the bottom of the page. I wish it was located near the top as well or even in the tool bar near the strings icon.

- I wish there was a way to easily edit a group’s name. My current way around this is to create an entirely new group and drag all of my categories to the new group. Not impossible, but a little cumbersome.

- When I go to edit a budget category, sometimes the delete button is too far left and the app won’t register the click and think I’m trying to rename the category instead.

- Sometimes the budget amounts glitch when the app page changes (for example, to and from edit categories page and the normal dashboard) and leaves some of the category amounts invisible.

- Lastly, the way to change a category’s budgeted amount feels a little clunky. When I go to change the amount, I expect for the new amount I type in to become the new budgeted amount. Instead, it either adds or subtracts the newly typed amount to the previous budgeted amount depending on if I press the “+” or “-“ icons. It takes some getting used to and isn’t impossible to navigate, but it would be nice if the process of editing an category amount felt a little more intuitive.

We’ve added the ability to edit a groups name! Thanks for the feedback. We’re taking a look at your other items.

CAN YOU DO ANYTHING WITHOUT PRO VERSION?!

Holy crap I just opened the darn app and was trying to get started and every freaking option I pick is only for Pro!!?? Like I can't even make a Login without pro version??!! #WHACK! #Delete

Response from developer

Thats really good feedback and we will brainstorm how to better meet expectations. The login syncs and backs up your budget to the cloud that we maintain and pay for, so we need some revenue to cover that cost. We planned the free features as what a person would need to keep a full personal budget. We’ll take your feedback to heart and consider what would be better.

Don’t expect this to be a free budgeting app

I typed in ONE thing wrong and found that it’s impossible to fix unless I PAY to simply change one variable!

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback and we’ve added undo for free! Let us know what you think!

Minor Adjustments

I love this app but I can’t input decimals which is a huge overlook :( and I hate that I have to include my savings as part of my income. I just want to see my savings separate from my income. Also if you mess up, you can’t get an undo unless you pay for pro. Once that number’s in, it’s in for good unless you want to delete the whole category and start over or pay for pro. Seems like a scam :/

Thanks so much for the feedback. Let me see if I can help. We’ve found over the last few years that leaving out decimals makes things easier and faster. Let’s say I just spent $7.54 on pizza. When I record the spend, I just round up to $8.00 which also provides me with a small buffer. It may take a little getting used to, but our method genuinely changes spending behavior and makes things faster after an initial learning curve. The savings thing is actually a really important principle in our method. A lot of people don’t think of future expenses that can drain their budgets (like car repairs) so it’s important to save a little every month into those things and using a budget as the mechanism for that is a really powerful way to do it. That said, the categories can be set up however you want. So if you don’t want that section or its categories, that’s totally in your control 👍🏼. On the undo thing, we think you’re right and we’re going to address that in a future release.

Good but...

No cigar... I like the concept, and the app is clean and easy to navigate. My biggest complaints are that if you mess up, there’s no “undo” function for individual items. I was able to manage some workarounds, but when I did that, the budget would adjust to what it should’ve adjusted to when I actually spent the money and there was no way to change it. When I wanted to reset my values to zero, I needed to pay for a pro subscription. I think being able to reset the values is a basic function that should be accessible to everyone free of charge. I’m not willing to pay for an app to get a feature that I would expect to find in a free one. I would pay for the pro version of the app if it offered visual charts and diagrams showing my spending habits as well as multiple pages for budgeting, say on a weekly/biweekly/monthly basis. But as far as I can tell, there’s nothing about this app that screams “buy me!”

Thanks so much for the feedback. Early reviewers like you really help us to understand our customers better. We genuinely appreciate your time writing that up. On the charts, that’s a feature which is already on our roadmap. Regarding the undo and clean slate feature, I think you’ve made great points. And they jibe with what we’re hearing from others. You can expect a new release that addresses these. Cheers!

Missing something here

I love this app but how are you supposed to put decimals in? Say I spent 21.32 on gas. How would I insert that?

Pure Rad

This app is awesome. So easy to use and the watch app is 👌👌. Five stars all day.

Thank you so much for the feedback! We’re glad you like it!

Finally!

This app is the first one I’ve found that does exactly what I need and nothing more. I don’t understand why budgeting apps have to be so complicated. The envelope method is very simple. Thanks for making this easy!

Response from developer

Thank you for the kind words!

Best budgeting app ever!

I have tried other budgeting programs, but nothing ever really helped as much as this app. It is easy to use and I have been able to save so much more money monthly. I have met goals in three short months with this app that I was trying to reach forever with other methods. This app combined with the watch app has made being mindful of spending SO EASY. Great app!

Fast, simple, easy

I’ve been looking for a budgeting app like this for a long time that my wife and I can both have access to and stay on the same page. It’s so fast to add transactions and the interface is super simple and easy to use, it just makes sense

Response from developer

We’re glad you like speed and simplicity too!

Fantastic

This app is so incredibly helpful. We have been able to zero in on exactly where our money is going. Being able to budget what we plan on spending in each category helps us to be proactive instead of reactive with our money. Highly recommended.

Response from developer

You are too kind.
