never buy!!

terrible! useless! worthless!
just a single usless map for an area.
maps are too small and lack of information and zoom does not work.
if it is free app, it is ok. But! it is 4.99$!
You can find better and free app from the store.
never buy this! never regret!

Find! TOKYO

I was not impressed with this App at all, for the price there are better apps out there. I was expecting more detail at street level ie more street names etc, I would not recommend this app.

Rip off

This app weighs in at a hefty 128MB, so I though it would have some pretty detailed maps. No, all the maps included are ridiculously simple and close to useless. God knows why this application is so large.

There is no info here that cannot be obtained with a free subway map available at any station and a couple of simple pamphlets.

This app is nearly $6.00, it's a total rip off. Save your money for something else.

Came in handy!

Have just spent a week in Tokyo and this app did come in handy.
The best feature for me were the area maps (great to navigate around - better than pulling out a big map) - and this used in conjunction with the station maps helped you find the correct station exits (and anyone who has been to Japan will know how challenging that can be at the big stations!)
The Tokyo train map was too detailed to use, and would be better split into a JR Map and a subway map. (for this i used the Tokyo Guide App) This would really improve this app.
For the price, it would also be nice to have a written overview of the main tourists areas (ie. what they are famous for.)

OK but train map feature is not readable

The application is OK, but the tokyo train map as shown in the first image above is not readable. The first screenshot shown above is misleading - you can not zoom in to increase font and text is a lot smaller than shown above

Needs a lot of work

I just came back from Tokyo and was able to use this app just once: for finding my way out of Shimbashi station. Neighborhood maps are not oriented North, so are useless. No search feature means you have to first know what neighborhood a hotel or attraction is in. Not familiar with all the areas of Tokyo? You're out of luck. The app has great potential, especially since resident on the phone and not reliant on connection, but until it is significantly reworked, it is a high-priced lemon.

Don't Waste Your Money!

There is no street detail or street names on the maps!! Zoom is extremely limited. I literally could have set a $5 bill on fire and acheived the same result. Avoid.

An excellent map app for Tokyo---Good for both tourists and residents alike.

There seem to be quite a few Tokyo related apps….some seem to mostly maps without a lot of guidance and others seem to have a lot guidance but not necessarily that many maps. This app does both, although it doesn’t cover every square inch of Tokyo…..just the areas that most people are likely to spend alot of their time in. The app seems designed both for tourists and local residents in mind and it covers a wide range of possible needs with both large neighborhood maps as well as detailed super local (ie, a map zoomed down to show only a few blocks around the location) level maps showing exactly how to get to a given location, say the Sony Building in Ginza from a nearby subway or JR station complete with station exit number. Or instead of the Sony Building, it could be a shopping mall, hospital, concert hall, movie theater, embassy, music club, internet access point, a hotel (I believe there are around 150 super local maps for hotels in the app), and so on. And many (although not necessarily all) locations also include walking directions, street address, a local phone number and website link. The neighborhood maps are not super detailed but are sufficient to find subway/train stations and major points of interest…and the app has a neat feature where you can flip neighborhood maps from English to Japanese with one click, which is helpful when asking for directions from Japanese people or dealing with taxi cab drivers. Navigation is pretty easy and is structured to search by several different approaches (neighborhood, train stations, type of business/hotels/clubs, etc), such a picking a neighborhood map for Shibuya and then using a button to show the list of hotels or movie theaters in that neighborhood. You then select a location, and it will give you a super local map showing you exactly how to get there from a subway or train station. So you don’t get buried under umpteen map levels and it is easy enough to use the back or forth from the large area map to a super local map. The app is designed to show you things around a given general neighborhood or a specific location…so for example, if you wanted to go to a movie theater in Shibuya, you can pull up a list of theaters in Shibuya and then pull individual maps for each one but you wouldn’t be able to make the Shibuya neighborhood map only show the movie theaters. The app does have some minor annoyances, however….The bookmarking feature, which lets you save specific maps for quick access, indexes the bookmarked maps with rather cryptic names such as ‘gmap-3994’ rather than a location name. Also on some of the larger neighborhood maps/rail stations maps, drilling down to some of the super local maps is a bit hard because the touch boxes are a bit small when the map is at the default map size…but if you pinch open the maps to blow them up a bit, then it is easier to activate the touch boxes. Overall, I’m quite happy with this purchase….It is easy to use and it should cover about 95% of the foreseeable mapping/navigation issues I might have during my visits to Tokyo.

Fantastic app!

This is probably the most useful application for living/exploring Tokyo. It's not just a metro map it has maps for ward offices, hospitals, shopping areas, shrines/temples, parks, International Schools...etc. It even has interior maps for major stations so you can find your exit, well worth the price in my opinion.

Overpriced - neighborhood maps are useless

Subway map was OK; a little hard to really plan a route due to the small screen, but that is because the system is so complicated. The station maps were a bit hard to figure out - I never really used them. The neighborhood maps are only good for the most general orientation.

Great maps!

Very useful for upcoming trip to Tokyo, a must have if you are planning to use the subway lines.

Finally fixed

It is much easier to use now since the newest version. It was really frustrating to use before. I believe this is the only app that provides map services in English for Tokyo and for that I give it five stars.

Great!!!

Excellent app with lots of information

This app has a large wealth of information on each of the main neighbourhoods of Tokyo, with maps of the areas as well as maps of the train stations (a life-saver for places like Shinjuku station!). Maps also include clickable links to information on local shops and places of interest (stored in the app thankfully, no internet connection required). Recommended to all people new to tokyo, or those making short visits, well worth the price!
