About

Fin's Fish Guide is your personal fish guide for diving, snorkelling, fishing and spearfishing, with a database of 12,500+ species worldwide. Works offline too: every species is built into the app, so your guide comes along wherever you go. At sea, at the waterside or on holiday. IDENTIFY YOUR FISH Describe what you saw in your own words ("snake-shaped, slippery, in the Rhine") and Fin finds the species. Take a photo and let Fin recognise it. Or answer seven multiple-choice questions and work your way to the answer. YOUR LOGBOOK Record every sighting with a spot on the map, a date, details and your own photo. Build your own lists (Spotted, Caught, Favourites or create your own) and watch your progress grow. BUDDIES Follow other fish lovers, share your sightings and react to theirs. Your exact spot stays private: others only see the area, unless you choose to share it with your approved buddies. Start a club with your diving school or fishing crew. EXPLORE BY AREA Draw an area on the world map and discover which species live there, from the North Sea to the Mediterranean and far beyond. LEARN WITH FIN Practise identifying species with quizzes, by collection or by area. Fin gives you tips along the way. Every species page is packed with details: identification features, habitat, season, edibility, conservation status (IUCN) and even first aid for dangerous species.

What's New in Fin's Fish Guide

1.26

October 28, 2026

New in 1.26: - A personal start for new users: Fin briefly asks what you're after, then shows you around. - Follow other fishers straight from their post in the Fish feed. Remove your own post with one tap; it stays in your logbook. - A calmer logbook, with collections you open yourself and a button to add fish. - Search for a fish by another name and you'll see that name alongside. - New danger label "Poisonous flesh", and checked first-aid texts for venomous and poisonous species. - Family names in plain English, "Get to know your fish" after every Firster, and WhatsApp sharing now goes straight to the app.
