Great app for teaching basic words
What I like about this app is how it includes teaching the word with many different representations then receptive ID then a spinner to label it. Would love to have something similar with categories or adjectives. I can also use this with my Spanish-speaking kiddos as it has several languages.
Could be a lot better
I love the Hamaguchi apps, as do most of my students (I'm a speech therapist). Having their apps on days when a child won't interact with me is a lifesaver (all kids love the iPad!). That said, I'm surprised this app came from a speech therapist. Choosing an object from a field of 5 is impossible for most of my students. Most of them are working on choosing an object from a field of 2 or 3. I desperately wish you could change the number of objects in the field!!!!!!! It would make this app so much more useful. Without this, it makes the app promising but hard to use as it is.
That said, I've managed to use it with a could of kids and they enjoy it. I like how the app gives you choices between real pictures or cartoons. I work primarily with Spanish speaking children so I also love that the app comes in so many languages. If you could run an update on the Following Directions apps so they'd come in Spanish, I'd be your first customer!

Response from developer
Thanks so much for your input. As you hopefully know by now, we agreed and made those exact changes to the app! So you can select 2, 3, 4 or 5 objects in a field of choices. This change was made last year but we weren't able to respond to reviews until recently so hopefully you have been using the new version with these changes. Hamaguchi Apps Team

Response from developer
I believe this response was indicating there was no sound. However, the sound does work as long as the mute button is not on. Always check the mute button, hopefully before writing/rating the app!
Fun and Easy to Use
Great app for helping kids (and their parents) learn a lot of basic words in mulitiple languages. And it's fun too!
Great for first words
This is a great app. I particularly like the different variety of images and pictures used to help categorise words. The recording function is easy and smooth, like in other Hamaguchi apps. We also like that it's not too busy or distracting allowing our son to listen and focus on the words. Thank you.
