This update adds highlights and notes, brings your Library into the reader, rebuilds Guided Skim, and introduces a one-time Plus trial, alongside a broad pass over reader reliability and iPad behavior. You can now highlight passages in HTML papers, choose a color, add notes to highlights, and keep a note for the paper itself. A new Highlights view in Library groups everything by paper, searches across passages, notes, and paper titles, and returns you to the exact passage. Highlights and notes sync through iCloud with Plus, and Markdown or Obsidian exports now include them. As you read, FirstPass Plus can now surface related papers from your own Library and matching highlights when available. Connections are ranked and matched on-device. The same highlight, note, and Library tools work in papers opened through the Share Sheet. Guided Skim has been rebuilt to choose a denser, more useful spread of sentences across the paper, with clearer passage markers as you scroll. Sentence detection is also more reliable in hard-wrapped arXiv HTML. Reader fixes also go deeper. When an arXiv HTML paper ships with a broken bibliography, FirstPass can now recover references from its source files when you tap a dead citation. Abstracts expand in place on paper detail pages, reader controls are larger, and the recent-paper and highlights panels respond more quickly. Eligible users can now start a one-time 14-day trial of all Plus features when trying one, with no payment and no automatic renewal. The old monthly meters for exports and explanations have been replaced by this full-access trial. On iPad, each window now keeps its own navigation and active reader state. Side panels transition more smoothly, and FirstPass better preserves your place when switching papers, Smart Folders, or windows. Search, Radar, author pages, onboarding, navigation, and accessibility have also received a broad polish pass. FirstPass may now ask whether you want to enable limited product analytics. Analytics remain off unless you choose to enable them and never include paper identities or content, search terms, highlighted passages or note text, URLs, location, purchase data, or a persistent user or device identifier. This update also includes extensive fixes for reader rendering, caching, iCloud sync, monitoring, search, and app navigation.
