I couldn’t be more sad.

This game was my entire childhood, I played so much I unlocked about 30 or so of every gem every week, it was something I could play when I was stressed and the story and fun facts were something I could talk about for hours, only to learn that they have forced this app into a paid subscription, I understand you have to make money off this stuff in today’s age, but this is ridiculous!

They want $25 a Year for a simple mobile game, no longer can I sit and play a game with ads but I’m forced to spend $25 dollars a year because they’ve fallen into corporate greed, this is insufferable, bring back the ads if you need the money so much but you should know that this is the most greedy and selfish change you could’ve possibly made!

This game was amazing, but if you want to play a 12+ YEAR OLD MOBILE GAME now you apparently have to break out the wallet.

Disgusting sickening greed.

20 minutes of free gameplay until it locked behind a paywall? genuinely pathetic!! especially in an economy where mostly no one can afford rent or food!! greedy companies are extremely out of touch and it makes me sick!

Childhood memories stolen by corporate greed

I remember playing this game with my cousins when I was little, and it was so fun. I can’t play anymore on account of having to pay for the game. I beg you all to make the game free again. It also says on the website that it is free with no ads or in app purchases. However this is a lie because you have to purchase Halfbrick plus to play the game! Just give us ads!!!

DOWN WITH SUBSCRIPTIONS!!

I used to love this game when I played it in the 2010s, but now that enjoyment has been impeded. Players shouldn’t have to pay a subscription for a game they could previously play for free. I doubt the developers will change their stance on this, but I hope to warn any previous players that might want to relive their nostalgia that this game has been soiled. With the way the world is right now, forcing your players to make repeated payments instead of just a single purchase is predatory. I wouldn’t even mind if this game were a single $5 purchase, and that’s me being generous. What a shame.

I’m out deleted

Haven’t played in a while, tried today only to find subscription only. That game isn’t worth a penny.

an embarrassment

early app store title with no real changes in a decade but we slap a forced subscription on this ancient mobile game preventing save data (my fish hats went away). Horrifying trend of taking already functioning software from 2010s and dilapidating it to unplayability (see: PvZ) it isn’t slick and it isn’t a good look, you did not make a new product and thus u shouldn’t get to apply new restrictions to its access, make a new game and paywall that. To extract revenue from games created in the days of 4in screens is an embarrassment.

Saying ”No” to the subscription.

This is so sad that this game is now under a subscription. I agree with the others that it seems so greedy! For a while this game was neglected and I could only play it on an old iPad. Now it’s updated but you can’t play with out a subscription!? I would rather just pay one time for the game but unfortunately that option doesn’t exist.

eff you

why do i have to subscribe.. i want to speak with management

Só 20 minutos

Daria 5 estrelas se não precisasse de pagar mensalidade pra jogar. Se tivesse como comprar somente o jogo eu compraria.
Tirando esse detalhe eu emo esse jogo e lembro de jogar quando era criança

Another game fallen from grace

Used to be a go-to mobile game when I was a kid, got the itch to play this again just to find out it has a subscription JUST to play the game normally, cant even play with ads for free. Id rather the game be a dollar or two, but WHO is paying a subscription just to play these games.

Nostalgia bait ruined

Why do u have to pay to throw fish...

Corporate Greed Kills Childhoods

I play this game so much as a kid, loved it to death. It’s the same story with jetpack joyride and fruit ninja, but I loved this game so much more. I’ve replayed a few times over the years just for a nice blast of nostalgia, and always had a great time again. Last week I got another wave of nostalgia and wanted to play again, only to be met with a paywall telling me to pay for a halfbrick+ subscription. I play a lot of pc, so I’m used to paying for games. However, a yearly subscription for a mobile game is absurd. I wouldn’t pay $25 a year for call of duty let alone fish out of water. Absolutely absurd that halfbrick thinks this ok, and it probably won’t change cause I’m sure the whales buying the subscription are keeping the company’s bottom line higher than ever. So I’m gonna go enjoy my last free 20 minutes of fish out of water, then never touch a game from this greedy company again.

miserable company

i’ve never left a review on anything in my life but this new subscription system is horrible and your struggling company will crumble soon enough just let me play the game i liked as a kid capitalist slobs

corporate greed

subscription needed

Pure greed. Game was free for years!!

Seriously not impressed- this game was free for YEARS and now requires a subscription to even play!!!! Seriously guys!?!!

New subscription Model

This game is great, and was always such a fun one to play for FREE. Why did I pay for it years ago to now have to pay a subscription as well? Immediate undownload…

BEWARE: Requires paid subscription!

I used to play this game over a decade ago and it was so fun! One of my favorite mobile games of all time. I forgot about it for a long time but remembered it and wanted to play it again. We do not want to play your other games on Halfbrick+. We want to play Fish Out Of Water! Many would be happy paying a one time LOW COST payment to get rid of ads on an otherwise free game, but gatekeeping this classic, award-winning game to a terrible subscription service has ruined any nostalgia I had for it. If it ever becomes free to play again I would love to play it and change my review. Until then, Halfbrick+ remains a terrible decision by the studio and will rot with all the other games locked behind it. VERY hostile business practice!

Textbook definition of "greedy slobs that don't care for other people".

Really? I read the "Most Helpful Reviews" and one of the reviews had a dev response that said that Halfbrick+ gives access to more than one game. Paying for ANY game seems dumb to me. But a whole subscription? Why? Max a 10$ one-time purchase seems borderline reasonable, but I can't understand a monthly payment. So greedy and dumb. Waste of money and storage for players, and a waste of a good game and thousands of 4-5 star reviews. Please make these games free-to-play.
