What's New in Fishmarks

1.15.16

September 25, 2026

Know which way you're pointing. • While you're under way, your position shows as a boat pointing along your course instead of a plain dot — so you can read your heading off the chart at a glance. • A new strip along the bottom shows your speed and course while you're moving. Speed uses whichever units you've set. • Following now keeps your boat centred as you go, instead of centring once and letting you drift off the edge. Pan the chart to look at something and a Recenter button brings you straight back. • Choose how you read coordinates — degrees and decimal minutes, decimal degrees, or degrees, minutes and seconds — in Preferences. Your choice applies everywhere, on your phone and on the web app, and you can still type a position in any format. • Tap Locate while you're already moving and Fishmarks offers to record the trip, so you don't get home and realise you never started the track.

User reviews

Lifesaver in the Keys for mini-season.

Fishmarks made it painless. Had all my lobster spots organized by area, synced wirelessly through ActiveCaptain straight to my Garmin — no fumbling with SD cards on a rocking boat, no lost marks. Pulled up, dropped in, limited out. Exactly what I needed.

Finally something that just works

Been fighting with Garmin Homeport for years just to keep my waypoints organized — crashes, a clunky interface that feels like it was built in 2008, and good luck doing anything from your phone on the water. Fishmarks is what I’ve been waiting for. Imported my GPX in seconds, the map is clean, and selecting a bunch of marks to rename or move into folders is actually intuitive. I can finally manage my spots without sitting at my desk losing my mind. If you fish and you’ve ever cursed at Homeport, give this one a shot — you’ll wonder why nobody built it sooner.
