About
fivebar is a counter for when your eyes are busy. Tap anywhere on the top half of the screen, press a volume button, or (experimentally) tap the back of your phone. Each count gives a light tick, and every fifth count gives a heavier one, so you can keep track by feel and check the screen when you want to.
The number is drawn twice: once as a large figure and once as a row of five-bar gates, the tally marks people scratch on walls and in notebook margins.
Count several things at once
A session can hold as many named counters as you need, such as rows and repeats, or robins, wrens and blackbirds. Tap a counter to make it the one the buttons count.
See how it went
When you finish, fivebar shows the total, the split between counters, and how this session compares with your last one of the same kind and with your best.
Templates and history
Save a set of counters you use often as a template. Each template keeps its own history: the lifetime total, your best, average and most recent sessions, and a line showing how your sessions have gone over time. Renaming a counter doesn't break its history.
Start again in one tap
The button in the corner repeats whatever you counted last. Open the list next to it to pick a template or start a blank session.
Name it later
Rename a session or add tags after you've finished counting, from the summary or from the session's menu. Filter your history by tag.
Your data stays on your phone
There is no account and nothing to sign in to. fivebar has no ads and no analytics, and it never connects to the internet. You can export every session as a CSV spreadsheet whenever you like.
Also:
• Light and dark themes
• Works with large text sizes and VoiceOver
• Free, with an optional tip jar in Settings. Nothing is locked behind it.
