Confusion for no reason
First, the layout isn’t consistent across sections. In the Music tab, songs are displayed in a vertical list with artwork, and there’s no option to change that layout. But in the Artists and Albums tabs, items are arranged horizontally in rows of two. Then in the Playlists tab, it goes back to a vertical list again, with no flexibility.
It would be much better if users could choose how content is displayed across all sections for example, switching between vertical lists or grid layouts with rows of three or four. Right now it feels a bit limiting and inconsistent.
Second, the playback interface feels pretty basic. When you tap on a song and the player opens, it only shows simple controls like play/pause and skip. For a modern app, it feels a bit outdated. A more polished, updated interface with additional features and a more refined design would make a big difference.

Thank you for the detailed and constructive feedback. I really appreciate that you took the time to explain your thoughts. The layout differences are intentional to some degree: songs are shown in a list for quick browsing, while artists, albums and playlists use more visual layouts to better highlight artwork. That said, I completely understand your point about consistency and user choice. Adding options to switch between list and grid views is a good suggestion, and I’ll consider it for a future update. Regarding the player, it already supports features like AirPlay, album artwork and shuffle. I’d be very interested to hear what specific features or improvements you feel are missing beyond what is already there, as that would make it much easier to understand what you expected from the playback experience. Thanks again for helping make Soundlight better.

lacks core features of a music player
i downloaded this since it claimed “no ads, no subscriptions”. what’s the first thing i see? an offer for a subscription to remove ads.
not only that, there’s no option to shuffle, loop, loop a song or any way to manually add lyrics.

Thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. I do want to clarify a few important points, as parts of your message don’t seem to match the current functionality of the app. The app does not contain ads, nor does it use subscriptions. It offers a one-time purchase to unlock unlimited tracks, which is clearly stated in the store listing and inside the app. The app also includes shuffle and loop functionality (including looping a single track), so I’m a bit unsure how those options were missed. This makes me wonder whether there may have been some confusion with a different app, or possibly an older version. That said, you are correct that manually adding lyrics is not supported. This is currently not a core feature of the app, but feedback like this is still noted and appreciated. If you’re open to it, I’d be happy to help clarify anything or guide you to the features you mentioned. Please feel free to reach out with more details about your setup or app version. Best regards, Ivan
