Needs a few additional features, but overall great

I’ve been using Playmaker X for 5 seasons in overall, it is the best budget, friendly option for drawing up, plays, and visually demonstrating routes.

One feature, that would be a huge improvement Would be the ability to stop or pause a route for 1-5 seconds to improve play progressions. This would be especially useful for routes like screens, stop and goes, and wide receiver, concepts that require the players moves sequentially. This would fit perfectly in the speed +/- tool.

Right now, my only work around is to draw short movements back-and-forth to delay that route, but more often than not it leaves my players, wondering why their icon looks like it’s having a seizure before finishing it route.

Thank you, coach. I'm glad you like the drawing and animation tools and appreciate your constructive feedback on animation pauses. You're using the same technique I use for pauses (multiple points) but a formal pause feature is on my personal wish list, too. I can't say for sure if/when that will be in the app, but I've added your vote to that feature in our coach wish list. I hope you have a great season!

Great app but need more functionality

Love the app. I created our whole playbook in a few hours. Minor issues: The app needs custom zoom printing versus preset percentages. 25% could mean someone gets cut off or too small. Need a toggle for how many players on the field without creating a new playbook. Other apps do this already. Bug fix: Need to fix locking up when making multiple prints. For example: I print wristbands and the try to print call sheets. Sometimes the call sheets page gets locked up. I have to restart the app.

Helpful - room to grow

Would love an option to draw drills! Having a subsection for drill design and practice planning would be invaluable. Even just the same play layout with some pylons and slightly larger field view.

Lack of Customization

There needs to be options to rearrange route trees, etc. I’ve tried every method possible and you cannot create your own or re-number. (We have younger kids that don’t need to learn a significant amount yet, but would like to keep the same numbering system as the older group to make it easier as they grow and transition. Unfortunately, this app doesn’t support that.)

good

if i have to be honest im a big fan of this as a coach this app lets me do lots of things with players offense and defense i do infact like the Team color and playbook also i can use a team an out my players in, it feels very personal and i love it. however it does cost money to use, i would wish that it would be free but not give the same benefits, give one week of premium then after that u can get a lesser version. but that is my honest review

Thank you, coach. I'm glad you like the team color and customization features. You're right that this is a paid app - we do that so we can continue to support coaches and make improvements. I want to be sure you know about our Offseason Mode - if you don't need to use the app year-round, you can pause your subscription for the offseason and we'll store everything in the cloud free up to 12 months so your playbooks are there when you need them next season. Good.. but

I just wanna use the app without it costing money, I’m a kid and play backyard football with my friends and I wanna continue using this app.. just without the heavy costs of like 17 bucks

Undefeated Season 2025

Coaching flag football 11-15 y/o for two years. Last season I made a verbal play calling system, which was difficult for all of the kids to retain. It also limited the number of plays. This year I used Playmaker X to create 18 plays and print them to wristbands. This saved a ton of practice time. Their positions are color-coded, so they just have to do what the play card says. That way, I could make more complex plays and spend practice time working on timing and skills.

Coach Life

I use the FF Playmake X app every coaching season, at 1st takes a little time to get use to, then find the use easy to fit my play design and printing needs, it accommodates wristbands different window size and has a automation to help see the routes in motion in case adjustment needed to avoid player collision. It’s worth it. Also, support services, Jeremy was helpful to help with cleaning multiple profiles I created in one account thank you

Love this app as a coach.

Been a flag football coach for quite some time now. Rec, Club, and now girls HS. I used Playmaker for some time now and absolutely love it! Another perk was the customer service was super quick to help me fix an issue I cause on my end. I accidentally deleted my entire playbook and they were able to restore it quickly to save the day. Easy to navigate plus great and fast customer service.

Feel like I wasted my money

Spent A great deal of time designing a play. then, for some reason The playing field zoomed in to only half the field, and I couldn’t see all of the routes .Couldn’t fix the view. The instructions were useless. great in concept, but frustrating to use.

Outstanding App

I coach 5v5 youth flag football and this app is incredible. I’ve spent countless hours using it and I still haven’t scratched the surface of all it can do. A must have if you’re a coach that enjoys building your own plays and playbooks. I love that as my sons get older, the app can do 7v7, too. Price is completely reasonable as well.
