Bad game

Looks and feels significantly worse than the first game. Not worth buying.

Mostly Good

Like it, but one major flaw is how when going after a low pitch, it’s way to easy to inadvertently swipe out of the game. Also, it takes far too long to level up once you reach level 7-8 or so.

Leveling Up is Brutal

This game is a lot of fun and I can see it being an improvement on the original but how slowly you level up certainly takes some of the fun out. I’ve been playing a lot and find myself stuck playing the same levels over and over and barely see any progress.

Lazy AI Slop

I played the first game a lot as a little kid and was excited to see a second one. Unfortunately, all of the art and assets in the game are AI generated. In addition to the ethical concerns surrounding generative AI, the art looks ugly, lazy, and tacky. The game looks and feels like very little effort was put into it. Skip this one.

Poor follow up to the original

I loved playing the original game growing up, but this feels nothing like it. The contact is inconsistent, the lack of ability to speed up gameplay is frustrating, and the new buildings feature feels gimmicky. I wish they just continued building out the first game.

Horrible Sequel

This game is horrendous. Do not play it and don’t spend money. The first version was actually great. There is no way to enjoy this without spending money. Even then. You can play for an hour an earn a handful of coins, which gets you nothing. The game balance is so bad that way. First version, amazing. This version worse than trash. Deleted after two hours.

Response from developer

We are truly sorry for disappointing you. In this update, we have added a package that increases the amount of coins earned during gameplay. If you are considering purchasing coins, please consider buying this package first. We will do our best to improve. We believe that your disappointment and anger stem from your affection for the original Flick Home Run. Thank you sincerely for your love for Flick Home Run.

Good, just needs some adjustments

I played the OG game for many years. I was playing last week when I saw the add for number 2. So I’m a huge fan. After hours of playing this game I felt frustrated and ready to throw in the towel. There are a few issues I have.

1. I read a review talking about the point system, and I agree. I will play a round and hit every single ball “out of the park” just to lose because I don’t get enough points. I’ve refined my buildings to maximize points but still feel you have to get extremely lucky with random points or a totally random 3x or 2x ball. I think it’s challenging which I understand. but sometimes it feels like closing the game is the way more fun than restarting and failing on Step 9 after hitting every single ball out.

2. My biggest issue I have is, I’m on stage 18. I was rolling until this stage, the blue slow pitch ball is impossible to hit. Because it comes in so low after the line that when I flick to hit it, my finger grabs my home bar and closes the app. The pitch isn’t complicated or challenging to hit, but it’s impossible with how low it is. I close my phone every time so I can’t continue. It just needs to be adjusted to come in slightly higher.

But other than that, it’s fun. I like the idea of buildings, I like the upgrades. The ideas are great. Although I have these issues I’ll continue to play it. Just some minor tweaking is all.

Response from developer

In fact, the fact that you have reached a point where clearing a stage is difficult even after hitting home runs in Flick Home Run 2 means that you have reached the extreme limit of a stage that is difficult for skilled players like you to reach with your current power—a stage that originally required a higher-power bat to clear. This ultimately means you have reached the limit stage achievable with your current power, and that you truly need higher power now. However, we are also seriously considering the feedback that this is inconvenient. We are deeply considering changing the focus of the next game from a "clearing" concept to a "setting maximum records" system. We envision the main content becoming a system where players challenge higher records while upgrading their power... We are truly grateful to the users who genuinely enjoy our game, and I will continue to monitor the situation and constantly deliberate on this matter. Regarding the blue slowball at stage 18 that you mentioned, in my case, the pitcher's motion differs slightly depending on the pitch type... So, by observing the pitcher's motion, I can predict when a fastball will drop sharply, so I place my finger on the screen in advance where the ball will land and wait. Then, when the ball comes, I hit it. If you try to hit the ball hastily while your finger is off the screen, you often end up flicking from the edge of the screen, which makes it easy for the ball to go out of bounds just as you mentioned. If you predict the ball's trajectory in advance, wait with your finger on the screen in a stable spot that doesn't touch the bezel, and then flick, you can significantly reduce the occurrence you described. Regarding hitting direction, for low balls, I personally tend to push the ball sideways rather than hitting it upwards whenever possible. However, I will seriously consider this inconvenience further. I will deliberate on various ideas, such as whether to strengthen the hitting tutorial or to modify the ball's trajectory itself as you suggested. If you have any better ideas, please contact me at infinitypocket@gmail.com, and I will give them deeper consideration.

Inconsistencies

Is there something I’m missing? Why is there never a set amount x2 and x3 balls to hit per level? The same level can have different amounts of them each time you play it and I just don’t get it because no matter how many times you hit it out of the park, it means nothing if you don’t get at least a x2 ball near the end.

Response from developer

The x2 and x3 balls appear based on probability, without a fixed number. This is no different from Flick Home Run 1, but we apologize if it caused you any inconvenience.

Horrible

This game is so much worse then the first one, they could have done so much better by just adding new stuff to the old one/making the visuals better and called it flick home run 2… in my opinion this is so so so much worse than the first one.

Response from developer

We are truly sorry that we could not satisfy the users who enjoyed the previous game, as they are so precious to us. We did consider the options you suggested, but we felt that a sequel with too little change would actually disappoint Flick Home Run fans. Although we tried our best to introduce various changes, we deeply regret that our failure to meet expectations was due to our own shortcomings as developers. We will do our utmost to meet your expectations in our next game.

Had complaints at first, but with some updates and developer feedback it’s amazing!

Definitely can say this is an improvement from the original game now. I’d left a critical review to which the developers responded and listened! I’m having a lot of fun with this game now. Great time killer at work :D

Response from developer

We are truly sorry. We will include a pause button in the next-after update.

It’s a bit slow

It’s a bit slow imo i recommend adding the speed up feature from the old game so when you hit the ball your not wasting your time watching the animation play through also it seems like you need just to get it over the home run area idk if that’s how it’s ment to be but i personally prefer the og game but I’ll keep playing it since I’ve been playing the og for so long dope game tho

ball is getting stuck

I am super happy with the game as a long time original player but ball is getting stuck on the corner of the coffee building to the point it’s making it hard to complete the next level.

Response from developer

Thank you sincerely for playing Flick Home Run 2. We would like to know more details about the issue. If you could send us a screenshot, we will identify the cause and take immediate action in the next update. infinitypocket@gmail.com

Meh…

First one was much better

Response from developer

I will do my best to make the game better.

Could be so great

To preface, I’ve put many hours into the original flick home run, and that’s for a reason— the game feels good to play. All of the following points come from a point of love for the original, as I can easily see this becoming an incredible game, but it needs some tweaks (in my opinion).

This version completely changes the physics system, it now sees almost impossible not to hit a home run. The length your ball reaches is based almost entirely on angle now, rather than speed of the hit or placement on the ball. The hits feel less satisfying and the ball just doesn’t go very far. Also, the vibration is sorely missed. The game generally feels floatier, and less tight in its core mechanic of hitting the ball.

The health system seems completely broken— I’ve hit balls out of the park just to end up with less health than before the pitch. The amount of points received isn’t locked in when the ball hits the ground, and you can easily lose dozens of points as the ball rolls backwards after a home run. It almost feels random how much health is expended vs earned on each pitch, which just doesn’t feel great.

Leveling up just takes far too long. After clearing 12 stages, I’m just level 4. The balance feels incredibly off, as I only have 6 build points and the second bat. It was maxed out the second I unlocked it, as there’s simply not enough stuff to spend money on with such a low rate of earning levels.

My last qualm would be with the descriptions of the buildings. They just aren’t clear enough for me to be sure how best to use them. I don’t know if this is an English specific problem, but it’s quite confusing.

This game has so much potential, even more so than the first game. To the devs, I really hope you guys (or guy idk) can push a few updates in the future to get this game up to the standard of the original, and even beyond. I really appreciate the addition of a progression system for both the bat and constructions out of the stadium, it’s an incredible idea to allow the player to have more ways to progress and create custom “builds” based on the obstacles they place. The first game is an all time classic, and this sequel has the opportunity to build on that, and just be a fun game to play. I would pay a few bucks for this game if it came out in an ad free, completed state like the first one. I think some other people might agree with me based on the success of the original.

For now I can’t really give it more than a 2.5/5, but I know with just a few updates and fixes it can be a clean 5/5.

If the dev is reading this, I hope you don’t take anything personally, I really want to see this game achieve greatness. Huge fan.

Response from developer

First of all, thank you for enjoying Flick Home Run 2. I was deeply moved by the sincerity you showed in such a long review. It is true that we have reduced the power reflection based on Flick Speed compared to the previous version. We did this because there were more users than expected complaining about the difficulty of the controls, but while it may not be possible in the near future, we will consider adding a mode that reflects the strong speed of the past style someday. For the same reason, we have maximized the contact for the early bats. However, as you progress to higher-tier bats, power increases while contact continues to decrease. Therefore, rather than saying that high-tier bats are always better, we hope this serves as an element that allows you to weigh the pros and cons of power and contact between basic and high-tier bats. We will continue to test and modify the stamina system. Vibration support is scheduled to be added to the options in version 1.0.02. We will continue to deliberate on and adjust the level-up speed and balance. Thank you once again for your deep interest.
