The most glitchy app ever

Leave it to JW Pepper to create the worst pdf reader of all time. So glitchy… turns to random pages, page turns take too long, re-sizing any page makes it crash - all of this while using files that are downloaded to the device, not streamed. Used on a brand new phone and an old iPad. Everybody at the conference was experiencing the same issues.

Response from developer

Sorry you and others at the conference ran into this. That's clearly not the experience we want for a downloaded, offline session. The random page jumps, slow page turns, and crashing on resize are specific enough that we'd like to dig in. Could you email support@flipfolderapp.com with the phone and iPad models (including OS version) and what conference you were attending? If you know of others at the conference willing to share their device details too, that would help us spot patterns faster.

Dev please read

This app is nice, but bringing back the built in metronome would be nice.

Response from developer

Thanks for the feedback! The metronome didn't make the cut in our latest upgrade, but it's on our backlog and we know it's wanted.

horrible

ever since the new update, flip folder has sucked more and more for everyone in my band. and they keep adding more “updates” and it makes it worse and worse. bring it back to how it was before (aka like 3 months ago)

Response from developer

Sorry to hear it's been rough for your band. We'd like to fix this, but we need specifics. Can you email support@flipfolderapp.com with what's gone wrong for you? Happy to look into it.

bad now

they updated it. bring back my boy.. 😭

It’s difficult to see notes

Okay so if the music is to long it’s difficult to see som notes because the bottom arrows thing covers it and and takes time while playing

Response from developer

Hi, we just released a new version that should address your concern. The page flippers and top menu items are able to be hidden with a single tap on the sheet music. Tapping the screen again brings those items back. If you continue to see issues with the app, please reach out to support@flipfolderapp.com.

Flip Folder is ALMOST Great

Having used this app for the better part of three years, I’m incredibly thankful for just how simple it is to pick up and use. However, it seems like when we need it the most (such as right before an early season performance) the app will refuse to work as advertised. More unfortunately, this issue has seemingly got worse and worse throughout my time using the app. Another issue with the app is the downloading of multiple parts. I play separate instruments in marching band versus pep band and in theory it would not be an issue since I’m enrolled in multiple bands. However, the app magically decides to only display whatever was most recently downloaded in both bands. As an example, in marching band I’ll be playing Tuba, then at pep band I’ll have to redownload every song in our book for the trombone. Then of course sometimes the app won’t download the right version and still show the tuba part anyway. If these issues could be fixed I would say that this app is nearly on par with Beam.

Some issues

Hi, I’ve used this app in marching band for over a year as a player and it’s about 50/50 for working/not working. Sometimes, the director pulls up a song and it shows up perfectly fine, with all my settings saved and my notes still written in. Other times, the song may revert to upside down after saving it previously, erase my notes, or refuse to open at all, and I’m stuck standing there messing with my phone while the rest of the band plays. These are not user-specific issues but everyone in the band experiences them all the time. Please work on an update soon so I can play in marching band successfully. Thanks!

Seeing

The blue line at the top makes it hard to zoom in and the music is not straight

Eh

For what it was made for, it’s useful. However, the app is slow and very buggy.

Great... except for some stuff

It’s an amazing app overall but I’m factoring in that there are some odd disconnects at times from the performance band thing. Also I know you don’t know what everyone’s working with but my iPhone 6 can’t even open the app with an IOS of 12.5.7

keeps crashing

fix yo gosh darn app ❌❌❌🤬🤬🤬

It’s good

This app is a useful tool. I like how it allows the band to go paperless. I’m really glad it exists - it’s pretty easy to navigate!

Do not install

Directors and students beware.

Ever since installing this app, all of our ensemble’s devices have begun receiving serious malicious attacks.

Terrible UI

On the iPhone 11 or any newer model with the notch, the UI or any interface doesn’t scale at all to fit around the notch in the screen, and in general the UI is too big and doesn’t scale well on iPhone

Response from developer

Hi Jerry the Scary, first of all, love the username. Very sorry if the experience hasn't been what you expected! It's very difficult for us to utilize the notch for newer iPhones, music can't really flow around the notch, and to keep the user experience static across all devices (even the browser version of the app), we thought that the best solution for us was to shift the interface over and basically just ignore the notch. However, we are very much open to making this user experience better, but none of the developers of this app have a phone with a notch. We would be very happy to hear what you would like to see with these phones and how we can make the experience better. Feel free to reply here or email me at marcus@flipfolderapp.com.

Marcus make good app

what the title says

This is what the world needs

Or the band anyway.. highly recommend!
