About
Pick a folder on your iPhone and ask your files questions the way you'd ask a person: "how much is my electricity bill?", "when does my car insurance expire?", "the photo of the whiteboard with the budget", "where in the meeting did we talk about the deadline?".
FoldFinder finds the right passages even when you use different words from the document, and shows them with their sources. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, it also writes a short answer that cites each source, one tap away. Want to dig deeper? "Show 5 more" lists further matches under the results.
EVERYTHING ON YOUR IPHONE
• No data collected, no account, no server, no ads, no tracking.
• Works offline: the search model ships inside the app.
• Answers are written on device by Apple Intelligence, when available.
TRY IT RIGHT AWAY
• The "Examples" folder holds made-up documents (a bill, a lease, a recipe, a manual, a warranty, a receipt, travel notes), already indexed on first launch. You'll find it in the Files app too.
READS WHAT YOU HAVE
• PDFs, including scans: pages without text are read with on-device text recognition.
• Text and Markdown files, exported notes.
• Photos, if you allow it (all or only the ones you pick): find them by what they show, in your own words, and by the text inside them.
• Audio recordings: transcribed on your iPhone, with a tap that jumps to the exact minute; sounds like music, applause or a dog barking are recognized too.
• Works on its own: big photo libraries and long recordings are read at night while your iPhone charges, and new or changed files are picked up the same way. One live counter shows how much has been read and about how long is left.
• Gentle on your battery: in Low Power Mode or when the iPhone gets warm it slows down or pauses, says why in plain words, and picks up again by itself.
YOUR DATA, YOUR COPY
• Choose whether the index goes into your iPhone backup, or export it and import it again.
SIRI AND SHORTCUTS
• "Ask My Files", "Search My Files" and "Index Now" are available in Siri and the Shortcuts app.
GOOD TO KNOW
Written answers need an Apple Intelligence-capable iPhone with Apple Intelligence turned on; without it, FoldFinder still shows the passages it found, with their sources. Transcription uses the speech recognition built into iOS for your language.

What's New in FoldFinder
1.3.1
October 27, 2026
New and fixed: • Share: a photo, audio recording or file you find can now be sent or saved with the Share button at the top right of its preview, or by touching and holding the search result. • More reliable search: texts containing certain punctuation or special characters (for example «;») are now read exactly the same way every time you open the app, so results no longer shift from one launch to the next. • Your existing index is fixed automatically in the background the first time you open the app: nothing is deleted and nothing needs to be indexed again.
