Food Connect - saving meals

Every year, the EU wastes enormous amounts of edible food: Cyprus leads with 294 kg per person, Portugal with 185 kg, and Malta with an estimated 162 kg per person. Food Connect links people with surplus food to those who need it. Businesses upload extra food, receivers claim it, and everyone helps cut waste. How it works - Donors (restaurants, supermarkets, hotels, bakeries, farms, NGOs) post surplus food with quantity and pickup info. - Receivers (individuals, charities, community groups) browse listings nearby and reserve for pickup. With Food Connect you turn surplus into solidarity. This app was created under the EU-funded LIFE Food Connect Project (Project No: 101148772). For the duration of the project (until 2027), the platform is owned and managed by Friends of the Earth Cyprus, together with the project consortium. The technical development and maintenance of the platform are carried out by Base Element (Cyprus), while the wider project partnership includes Friends of the Earth Malta, ZERO (Portugal), Friends of the Earth Malta (Malta), INOVA (Portugal) and DIAS Publishing (Cyprus).
