Good design, bad sync functionality
I really like the design of this app. The large images make it easy to find the recipe you're looking for. However, I often add recipes from my phone and then want to sync them to my iPad. I click the sync now button and nothing happens so I'm disappointed with that feature.

Syncing issue fixed - thank you :D
I **LOVE** this app and have it on my iPhone, iPad, and iMac. I love how it syncs and displays your food beautifully, like your own personalized cookbook, and you can easily share and save recipes with other people who have the app; email sharing is easy, too. Couple of minor bugs, for example, the posting to Pinterest option doesn't work. Without the minor bugs, this would easily be a 5-star app.

Lots to like
Update: thank you dev for investing time and updating the app. I have to admit that i prefer the old version. It was easier to read the recipe as black text on a light background. Also, as a cook, i need to go in and out of the app but the new version doesn't stay on the last open recipe. Instead, it goes it always opens to the home page I also liked how you could see the "stars" rating at a glance on the home page. Still a great app and i would recommend it. I do like the side by side scrolling of the ingredients and recipe.
There is lots to like...picture import, touch to edit, intuitive. I like the source box that converts URLs to hypertext links so I can easily return to where I found the recipe. I also like having a notes section.
The automatic conversion (for doubling a recipe for example) is very impressive and handy. In the app pics, it is the little black set of measuring spoons. click on it and a slider allows you to incrementally increase or decrease the serving size and it automatically readjusts your ingredient list. Very impressive. I also have already used the metric converter on some recipes. Love that feature too. I wish the USA had converted to metric.
With Foodie, I was up and started quickly. I like the side-by-side display (ingredients on left and directions on right). The display is clean and beautiful which is one of the reasons I chose this app. I need the pics as an incentive to cook the recipe. I like the smaller text so that more shows on the display. I don't need the contrast views since I don't cook in dark rooms. I haven't experienced any issues worth mentioning.
My wish list (not in any order).....
Searchable by ingredient
Pics for different steps of the cook process
Way to save it all (what if I lose my ipad)
Way to import recipes from popular sites
Smaller less available delete button...I almost accidentally pressed it a couple of times
Some of these things may already be available and I just didn't figure it out?
One of the other reasons I chose this app is that it resides locally on my device. However, I put a lot of work into it and need to have a way to preserve the content.
This was my first recipes app so I don't know how it compares to the others. A nice, polished offering.

Best recipe organization app!
This is hands down the best recipe organizational app! It's very user friendly and fun to use.

So far so good!
This has been an excellent app for organizing my recipes. I REALLY like the option of categorizing one or more of the different dishes I have and adding other specific categories. For the most part, I have printed out recipes online for my cookbook so it was a cinch to find it and copy and paste into the app. Even if I have to type out an old family recipe, it was easy enough to enter all of the data. Being a graphic designer, I really love the thoughtful approach to the design and the thumbnail version of seeing all the different dishes. I love the option of taking a photo of your creation or finding the photo on the web. Like I mentioned, so far so good!
