Love the idea, model needs some work

Hated food tracking in the past because digging through databases to identify what I ate was annoying. That said, I’ve noticed that generating ingredients every time leads to inconsistent tracking. Even if I ate the same thing and describe it the same way, the calorie count/macros will show up differently. Also, one time I attempted to edit the ingredients and it hallucinated ingredients that went with what I ate, rather than adding what I typed. Would make more sense to me to check and add previous entries than generate new ones every time.

Good intention, under resourced compared to their water app

I really do enjoy their water llama app and got this one hoping that it would similarly help me with tracking and doing better about my eating, however I’m finding the very things that help me with the water intake to be vitally missing here. For example, the food app here doesn’t have a widget for your intake, so if ADD and not noticing you haven’t eaten is a problem, this won’t help. Next, there’s no configuration when your typical day ends, so anything you log after midnight just goes into the next day, unlike the water app where you can say what the cutoff is. Related to that, you can retroactively change the time of a logged food, but not the date. Also, you can’t duplicate a meal, so if you’re eating the same thing or have logged to the wrong date but want to clone it over, no dice. And then the consequence of that is you might need to upload the same photo again, but due to the stochastic nature of the AI tool, you very likely will end up with a different caloric readout than the previous time, which lowers my trust in the initial and subsequent readings (small variance I get, variance on the order of hundreds of calories I think begs for improvement). And then finally, just cleaner stats on what you’re eating or where you need to improve. On a meal detail page you might get some insight into what your meal is lacking, but there’s no such functionality for your overall eating which is where it’s really needed - am I eating too much sugar? Not enough greens? Is my protein short of where I need it to be? So packaging more of the educational or coaching elements along with transparency and viewing at beyond the daily level would help. I support these devs because I really think they’re trying to build the right tools for people - it just didn’t feel fair to pay for the app expecting the same quality as their flagship water offering and receiving something to at I would much more likely describe as an alpha or a beta than a full release.

Calorie Deficit

I’ve only been using this app for 2 weeks and already dropped 5lbs and my muscle mass increased. It makes it easy for you to track your calories as well as protein intake. Although sometimes the analysis over estimates. Maybe that’s why i’ve lost 5lbs instead of my projected 1lb a week lol. I love the animals, they’re so cute and that alone encourages me to use the app consistently.

Sehr wages tracking
