FootSec is an offline navigation and mapping tool for the people who know the land best: field guides, trails guides, anti-poaching units, landowners, and anyone who walks ground where the signal stops. No subscription, no map limit, no advertising. BOUGHT ONCE, NOT EVERY YEAR If you have just seen what your old map app costs to keep now, you are not the only one. FootSec is bought once, reads the same GeoPDFs, and leaves out the ninety per cent of it you never opened. Import as many GeoPDFs as the phone will hold: topographic sheets, survey plans, title deeds, conservation charts. Each becomes a live, GPS-enabled map that needs no signal at all. No three-map limit, no premium tier, nothing to unlock. BUILT FOR FOUR KINDS OF USER Field guides and trails guides. Plan the walk before you walk it: lead guide, backup guide, lodge, number of guests, and a sleepout at the end of each day. Then send the plan to the other guides, so there is never a question about which group took which fork. Anti-poaching units and rangers. Patrol routes, observation posts and sightings stay on the device. Share a layer with the team so every ranger reads the same grid reference instead of arguing it over the radio. Landowners. Know your boundaries. Mark fence lines, water tanks, gates and firebreaks, measure between corners, and hand the map to family, contractors or emergency services so everyone knows the access points. Walkers, riders and overlanders. Load the whole park, mark the camp, measure the route, and send it to somebody who should know where you went. PLANNING A ROUTE Walk the line out leg by leg at the centre cross. Every leg carries its distance, its true bearing and its magnetic bearing, computed from the World Magnetic Model, so the figure on screen is the figure on your compass. A day walk, or a multi-day trail with a named sleepout for each night. The finished plan sends as a GPX file with a message written day by day, so the lodge has the route and the timing before you set off. LAYERS Stack what you know. The GeoPDF underneath and your own layers over it: patrol routes on one, fence lines on another, tourist paths on a third. Name them, colour them, choose the marker, show and hide them, share one, delete one. Nothing you draw touches the original map file. POINTS THAT CARRY DETAIL Drop a pin where you stand or enter a coordinate. Name it, describe it, add notes, and dictate those notes when your hands are full. Every point is time-stamped and carries its coordinates, copyable to send to whoever needs them. MEASURING A straight line for a quick check, or a multi-point path for a trail length or a property perimeter. Draw an area and read its perimeter. Know the distance before you take a step. RECORDING THE WALK Start recording and it continues with the screen off and the phone in a pocket. Distance, time and the pins you dropped, with the trail drawn behind you. It writes a standard GPX 1.1 file, elevation included, that opens anywhere. Walks worth keeping go to the Logbook with the area, the date, the time walked, the distance and every point along the way. YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS Nothing you mark, record or plan is uploaded anywhere. There is no account and no cloud behind this app; the only time it touches the network is when you ask it to fetch a map. Whether you are protecting rhino or your own back fence, what you know stays on your device. WHAT YOU NEED A GeoPDF. Most reserves and parks either hold one or can export one, and mapping agencies worldwide publish them free. A plain PDF imports and displays as well. It simply cannot show your position, having no geo-referencing to read.
