Broken?
iOS 16.1.2 seems to have broken this app. The wheel spins, the slider slides, but in the end “An error occurred during the download of the edition”.
Update: deleted the app, then reinstalled it, and now all is good.

A Decent App until Recently
I’ve used the Coloradoan app on my iPad for years and for the most part it has worked moderately well. I noticed that there was an update and it seemed to load faster. Then another update but this one added an annoying item. If you leave the app to look something up or go do something else and then come back it feels the need to check for something and the little round “wait” circle comes on and then you wait. If you haven’t been away from the app for too long, you will be lucky and end up back where you were reading. However, if you’re away for more than about a minute, it takes longer for the circle to end and you are back to the beginning of the newspaper. We all know that the Coloradoan is always behind on the news so why does the app need to go and do any checking for updates. It’s an annoying part of an otherwise well working app. It has gotten so bad lately that I’ve started using a browser to read the paper and it doesn’t do this “wait” circle thing.
Update Nov 4, 2020
A new update (iPad version) was released that seems to be a completely new model. The font is easier to read and there is no annoying updating wheel or timing out and having to reload. It’s more like reading a newspaper now. The only thing I don’t care for is when you are looking at the side by side and there are headers in an article, they are not as apparent or are all run together in the page view after clicking on that article. I can live with that more so than the way it was with it’s constant updating at odd times. Perhaps this can be on the list of next fixes.

Colorado online. Very convenient to use.
Changing from paper newspapers to digital newspapers can be learned. Well worth it once you learn the habit.
